Marata done an exception job
Yes in D, however he doesn't have fast feet like Dylan, Penisini and to a lesser extent Opacic. We need a real centre who can tackle but I'll take Marata in the meantime. Anyone suggesting Carty or Ryan could do the the same job is dreaming.

Why can’t matto do a job? He was originally a back/half and is a great defender. Has excellent lateral movement too.

With the current injuries, that would mean that we lose Matto's impact as a forward. That means you need to use Carty for longer. Yeah nah.

3. Marata/matto
6. Brown
14. Carty

Is stronger than

3. brown
7. Ja
14. Matto/Marata
Well you'd need to play Carty for 40 mins off the bench and expect him to play a tough game with big carries and D.

Yeah nah.

Marata being back is a different kettle of fish, however he's out with a hammy. They don't usually respond very quickly.

Sorry, a backrower in the backline is not the solution. We need a genuine back to return ASAP.

I will take Marata as a compromise.
He's not a good defender out wide but he's better than nothing, plus he can certainly carry the ball out there.

Why, though?

Matterson is arguably more agile, and mobile, than Marata - as evidenced by his games at halfback, hooker, and 5/8.

Marata at centre gives us the luxury of Matterson in the pack, but I dare say that Matterson would do just as good a job in the centres as Marata, if not better.

If we are talking about this week, then you would need to play Carty or Emu for 40 mins off the bench (it will be hot so you cant expect Reg / Jnr to play long minutes). Carty is an arm grabber and throws his trick shots from the 3 point line and has done little to show the coach that he can play disciplined footy IMO. Emu is not ready for big mins, evidenced by his hands on knees, sucking in the big ones in reggies last week.

Gutho has a weekly spot on the big sports breakfast every Tuesday.

Interesting he said we rarely review our attack.
Match reviews are only focused on defence.

That does surprise me if true. Surely we should be reviewing all facets of our game. Its not like our attack inside 20m zone is that great.

We get ourselves into some terrible shapes at times on the attack near the tryline.

Maybe when we stop leaking dumb tries on the edges we can start looking at attack.

You're responding to this like he said that they don't practice attacking shapes at training. All his is talking about is video.

Why would you be surprised, you only have to see our attack to know we spend FA time on it. Bea is a pub coach from the 70’s, he’s 40 years to late he would of been a gun back then.

Currently third best attack and only 11 points behind the brilliant panthers…..

while our defence is only 7th best, so makes sense to focus on fixing your weaknesses….
