3 current NSW Origin players
3 former NSW Origin players
1 selected in Qld Origin camp then injured
3 kiwi internationals
Plus Sivo and Waqa who will probably represent one of the Pacific Nations.
And then theres Penisini.
13 rep or potential rep players. Yet our squad isnt strong enough?
Utter f'n garbage. Honestly that would be the strongest roster in the NRL. So whats missing?
Yep. Our side is strong on paper with plenty of representative quality. We’ve slowly been building the roster to what it is but at some point you have to look elsewhere for answers.

Selection for the Kiwis is no reliable indicator of quality. Some Kiwis are Origin class while others are barely first graders. This is even more true for selection in Pacifika teams.

Origin is the only objective measure of quality, and even then there is a gulf. For every Trbojevic or Haas there’s a Gutherson or Nathan Brown. At least they’re genuine first graders.

Seems sensible that we not renew Nathan Brown beyond end of 2023.

Also happy that we've offered Matterson a 4 year deal. Fingers crossed he takes it - the length is definitely right, I guess it just depends whether the girth is suitable as well.

I’m having a couple of beers tonight but I’ll prepare a comparison with Penrith, the Storm and the Roosters. Interested to see how it shapes up.

Brutal detail destroys NRL fan’s $1 million miracle bet

An Aussie punter was agonisingly close to turning $5 into $1 million — only for the payday to turn to dust in cruel circumstances.

South Sydney's NRL season has hit its lowest ebb, smashed 32-12 by St George Illawarra with rookie halfback Lachlan Ilias benched during a first-half mauling in Wollongong.

NSW in crisis with Origin star ruled out

An unlucky punter has watched on as a $1 million payday turned to dust as the Eels fell apart against the Bulldogs on Monday.
The Eels have come under fire this week following their shock upset 34-4 loss to their western Sydney rivals.
For one punter, the result was a sucker punch.
It has come to light that an Aussie punter’s $5 multi-bet, spread across 15-legs, was about to deliver a life-changing payday — only for the Eels fail him at the final hurdle.
The bet slip posted online to a Facebook supporters group shows the fan’s 15 separate bets across the NBA Finals, AFL and NRL had all been winners — until the Eels’ shock loss.

The bet included several brave gambles on the Boston Celtics winning Game 3 of the NBA Finals, and Collingwood upsetting Melbourne on Monday.
It all fell apart when the punter backed the Eels to win by 13+ against the Bulldogs.
Sportsbet’s Sean Ormerod has confirmed the betting slip was legitimate and that the punter stood to win almost $1 million if the bet had have been successful.

“It was looking like a very happy Queen’s Birthday public holiday for a huge number of our punters who just needed Parramatta to win which would’ve meant all eight favourites won across the round - which is always a very popular multi,” Ormerod said, according to The Daily Mail.
“Unfortunately, no one told the Bulldogs players and they spoiled the party in a big way.”
Eels halfback Mitchell Moses has been a lightning rod for criticism following the loss after he coughed up a certain try with a lazy act.
Having been given an open try line after an off-load by prop Junior Paulo the 27-year-old slowed down while approaching the white line, preparing to nonchalantly place the footy down for a four-pointer.

However, Moses’ carelessness gave Canterbury five-eighth Matt Burton an opportunity to sprint back and slap the Steeden out of his hands before completing what should have been a regulation try.
Burton couldn’t resists rubbing salt into the wounds, bending and giving Moses a playful shove before celebrating with his teammates.
And to make matters worse for the visitors, Bulldogs fullback Jake Arthur dived over for his second try of the night less than 60 seconds later.

Canterbury ultimately secured a comfortable 30-point victory in front of 20,184 at Accor Stadium, pushing themselves out of bottom spot on the NRL ladder.
It was also coach Mick Potter‘s first win at NRL level in eight years.

Mad multi!!!!!

It wasnt $1m ffs ..... only $888k

I think 13+ on us was risky anyway. I would have made us 1-12
