Eels in the media

This is really sad, for Moses and his family member/s. I hope it's not the doing of a crazy fan - Moses has been the least of our problems on field, in terms of reaching our ladder potential.

‘Pretty scary’: Eels star Moses given police escort after death threat

By Michael Chammas and Adrian Proszenk

Mitchell Moses had to be escorted in and out of CommBank Stadium by a police riot squad and security team on Friday night after the Parramatta halfback received a death threat earlier in the week.
The Herald has been told that the threat was made during the week to a member of Moses’ family. It was then relayed to the halfback and later reported to the NRL.

The Parramatta Eels take on the New Zealand Warriors in round 18 of the 2022 NRL season.
The NRL subsequently advised the police, who took the matter very seriously and organised an escort to and from the game against the Warriors on Friday night.
Moses was secretly ushered in and out of the venue via a tunnel underneath the ground. Venue officials were urged to heighten security, who scanned the crowd throughout the game to make sure there was no danger to the 27-year-old while he was on the field.

“It’s a pretty scary thing,” Moses told Triple M on Saturday. “I think it was worse because [the] contact was to my family. When people start to get into your family it’s harder. Couple of text messages and couple of phone calls.

“It was non-stop. It didn’t come through to me. It came to my family. To see them in that situation is not good for any person let alone a footballer.”
As a result of the threats made against Moses, fans attending the Eels-Warriors match were subjected to searches with hand-held metal detectors. The normal protocol at NRL matches is just for bags to be searched by security staff.
“On Sunday 10 July 2022, NSW Police commenced an investigation after receiving reports of threats made towards a 27-year-old man,” said a NSW Police spokesperson.

“The NRL integrity unit are aware of the matter and worked with police, the venue and Parramatta Eels regarding security measures.”

NRL chief executive Andrew Abdo said the threats were taken seriously.
“Part of our job is to ensure we have a sport that’s professional and to maintain the integrity and safety of players and fans,” Abdo told ABC Sport radio.
“As soon we got the intelligence we worked together with police, stadium and the club. Extra security and protection [was on hand] relating to Mitchell Moses. We take it seriously. We have a team that works around the clock.”

The threats did not appear to affect Moses, who kicked four goals from five attempts in a composed all-round performance against the Warriors.

Makes perfect sense unless he was a body double for Moses and was there to take the bullet.

Given nothing came of the threat, it was likely a hoax.... or the person making the threat was predisposed last night... I dunno, out for dinner, at the movies, sitting on the bench of a 4-man NRL bench..... Nobody's beyond suspicion!!!!

Seriously? Reed did some good things last night but he also did some shit things. He was nowhere near our best and even further from our best the last month. He can’t get to Canterbury quick enough as far as I’m concerned.

Speaking of hookers, I was quite impressed by Egan last night.

Egan is a gun. If he were playing for us he would go to another level.

Josh Curran was good too. TCT said during the week that he was an Eels Matts player once upon a time and went to Warriors via Roosters.

Yes he can be, but I have seen him cost his team points with some lazy defense and or out of position play. Some times he over plays his hand.
