Wouldn't it be he was under duress when he made the decisionI do agree that is was pretty shit of the NRL to force him to make a decision on what plea to take on his charge so soon after he’s just lost the GF (and most likely drunk). The season doesn’t start again for 5 months, surely they could have given him a couple of extra days to think about it. Hopefully they look into this in the future.
Having said that, Matterson is a f**king idiot and should have just paid the fine.
Wouldn't it be he was under duress when he made the decision
maybe DurexI don’t know about duress…but definitely stress.
And as I said, he was most likely drunk. Unless he doesn’t drink alcohol, which I don’t know.
What’s rightful about it? If it’s his call why shouldn’t he be able to change his mind before the punishment is to occur?Matterson’s ridiculous bid to change his punishment has been rightfully denied.
Matterson denied bid to convert NRL ban into fine
Ryan Matterson will be forced to sit out the first three games of the NRL season after Parramatta failed in their bid to have his suspension changed to a fine.www.espn.com.au
He sure showed the NRL.Matterson’s ridiculous bid to change his punishment has been rightfully denied.

Because... he only got one shot, and shouldn't have missed his chance to blow - that opportunity came once in a lifetime. What’s rightful about it? If it’s his call why shouldn’t he be able to change his mind before the punishment is to occur?
Because there was a deadline to make his decision and he made it. By your reasoning Matterson could make his call an hour before kickoff. What’s rightful about it? If it’s his call why shouldn’t he be able to change his mind before the punishment is to occur?
That would be good, not bad.Because there was a deadline to make his decision and he made it. By your reasoning Matterson could make his call an hour before kickoff.
The conversation wasn't what is good or bad. It was what was the rightful decision by the NRL. Matterson had a deadline to make a decision. He had a choice of 3 options (suspension, fine or fight at judiciary). He made HIS decision by the deadline. Issue finished. That would be good, not bad.
What has changed from the NRL - the ones who charged him, accepted Matterson's fine, write the policy and put in place the deadlines? If it was finished he wouldn’t have applied to change it. It’s been months ffs. Things change.
He's approaching proper peanut status. He sure showed the NRL.
Yea, Matterson put in his decision (suspension) by the deadline. At which point the issue was done and dusted. If they didn’t care whether he paid the fine or took the suspension then, why do they care now? Something must’ve changed.
Well they've changed their minds before in the interests of the game. Surely they want their best players featuring in their product.Yea, Matterson put in his decision (suspension) by the deadline. At which point the issue was done and dusted.
Not at the expense of their judiciary charge / suspension policy. Otherwise they wouldn’t have one.Well they've changed their minds before in the interests of the game. Surely they want their best players featuring in their product.
Just because we talk about something doesn’t mean it’s not done and dusted FFS.If the issue was done and dusted we wouldn't be talking about it FFS.
