Eels in the media

Read is a massive dick and Broncos fan, can’t recall him ever making sense either in print or on NRL 360. His usual click bait, comparing the season launch to a tour of the COE at the Tigpies which has a barbers chair FMD.

I prefer getting written off anyway.

We perform better with no expectations.

I remember 2002,2006,2008,2010,2018 where we were premiership favourites and deadset flopped

You only have to look at games where red hot favourites and struggle with as well.

Theyre gorn the eels

Can't believe we lost that x-factor player we had from 2019-2022 when we were able to make the finals each year.

Simply because BA came out last year and said we were looking to fill our last roster spot with an x-factor (whatever the f**k that means), every wannabe journo/expert is now using that as an excuse to write us off.

I love it!

It's better then being one of the true premiership favourites like we were in 2002, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2018 where we flopped.

We do better with no expectations anyway I reckon its been the perfect build up. If everyone is fit and healthy we have enough quality to give it a shake.

It’s a comment made by most media commentators, Joel Caine put it simply “ Eels have top 3 to top 5 forwards and top 3 halves, then they have bottom 5 fullback to winger with little elite threat from their own half ( possibly Penrith are similar but with elite structure) .

We can argue, but look across the top sides , you see players like Valentine Holmes, Cobbo and Walsh, Tedesco? And Dom Young, even the Raiders and Dogs have that explosive player.

Really should have been targeted when Jenko and Fergo moved on, that’s up to the recruitment committee.

I mean in theory, if our Forwards stay fit, the rest follows. No x factor back can score tries behind a losing pack.
True, but also, plenty of plodding outside backs look like stars when their pack is dominating.

Merkins complain about our outside backs but they score plenty of tries.

I think Penrith are a good example of this. Their backs aren’t plodders but they certainly weren’t loaded with X factor players (apart from Crichton who is no Inglis, Tahu, Gasnier either)
