Looks like the club learned nothing after what has happened with Jake, the club is full of people that always do the right thing at least. Talk about putting in wanted pressure on the
Kid.
This is an article in the Telegraph. No quotes so the news could have come from a number of sources:

*Eels media
*a leak from inside the NRL
*player manager tips
*the player
*a related party who heard stuff.

So we shouldn’t listen to New Limited now?? Or just when it suits you??

Like I said, I see it often on the NRL signings page. I do take that as gospel.

There are some very, very ordinary players in the top 30 at every club. Giving a top 30 spot to a 21-year-old junior star with no NRL experience isn't the risk you think it is. Walsh and Suaalii were in the top 17 by Matt Arthur's age; a much bigger risk.

We have a different understanding of what a top 30 spot entails. It is one player out of thirty, potentially on minimum salary.
We very well might. But that certainly doesn’t equate to your understanding being right. I also think we have a different understanding of the term Star. What representative sides has he made? As I’ve said, he’s a good young talent with potential but that’s it at this stage.

I wouldn't be surprised to see squad sizes increased beyond 30 players by 2026.
If a part-time player can be signed to a $1,000 per week weekly training contract and still get selected to play NRL without being included in the top 30, does it need to increase?

Remember, the top 30 is the 30 highest paid full-time contracted players in the club, with each being paid at least minimum wage and capped within the salary cap limit. By my reckoning, if you have a part-timer on $15k-$20k outside the cap, and you play them for 10 games of NRL in the first year you call on them, you are only adding their $10k to your cap for that year worse case.

Ok. So MA has been offered this contract extension and everyone has their opinions on it.
This has been perfectly orchestrated! Everyone on the inside has watched, even the nepotism claims have been exposed (and don’t try and bring that to the surface or you will be shown the door and name erased from the club), kids shifted and manoeuvred not in the best interests of the teams or club but in the interests of the name you hold. MA is a good player … granted - but he should be! He’s been given special privilege to any others by way of additional training, inside knowledge of what the head coach wants, nrl preseasons at least since the last few years and has also been filling in when needed at NRL training sessions. This has been plotted perfectly - and anyone else playing in a hooker position have been shoved aside to allow the perfect set up.
I’d like to see how good that kid goes when his half isn’t Ethan Sanders! MA is a liability in defence and makes our forwards at that level work twice as hard whilst he hides.
I know the club will be and already have lost some good prospects who were never given a chance! Instead we will sit back and watch history repeat!
at least BA won’t have to pay him his pocket money!

So you think there's been a conspiracy carried out to get Matt Arthur an NRL contract.

Cool.

The good prospects your are talking about. Where are they currently playing now? Have any of them showed anything further since leaving the club? Or anything to suggest that it was a mistake letting them go?

Mahoney - forced to sign for Dogs for $600k pa to make sure there was a spot for MA

Cool.

It's not just a fact that within the club but other clubs are in on it too. Parra haven't won an SG Ball competition since 2017, haven't even made the finals the previous 2 years. Then all of a sudden big bad Matt Arthur and his rogue gallery come along and they not only win the SG Ball competition but end up finishing 3rd (post season) in the Jersey Flegg competition? They can't be talented, LU tells me they aren't, there must be some nefarious ongoing across the board, I bet it goes all the way to PVL.

Well as long as an NRL premiership comes along with it...
