As someone said yesterday. They gotta stop playin Junior league before the games. The players are watching it and thinking they will score trys by running sideways!!!!

It's a lack of fitness. Pure and simple.

How else can you explain the fact that for 3 weeks in a row now we've played very well in the first half but self-destructed in the second?

We've scored a combined 14 points in 5 second halfs whilst conceding something like 103. So to make it easy we're averaging 2.8 points per second half and conceding 20.6 points per second half.

Actually when the Dragons had a shocking start to last year Luke Bailey called a "crisis meeting", it was all over the media at the time.

It was also credited as part of the reason their season turned around.

Actually 20 points, but it is true, it is a damming statistic.

and this quote from Hindy is the best:
"Newcastle are losing their coach at the end of the season too, and it isn't hurting them.
"We have to blame ourselves for the problems on the field, but the good thing is that the meeting was very positive about trying to find a solution. We know what we have to do, but we haven't been doing it. Now we have to go out and do it."

Plus these guys can't train/work every day, they will burn out in no time. No person can be expected to work non-stop for weeks on end without a break

They've just come back from a 3 month holiday.
How many of us get a quarter of the year off?

And they get paid about 4 times as much.
No excuse for not being fit at this time of year.
It is their job godammit!!

I disagree. It has been for the past two weeks at least the stupid mistakes STRAIGHT after the run out for the start of the second half. Momentum has been in our favour and they lose it inside two minutes. Their heads drop and thats the end of it. They aren't all playing on the same page at the moment..... some are on page 75, others are on page 67 and we should be on page 71.

Our fitness is tested when injuries occur - we lost three players against the Cowboys and another two this week. Regardless of that if they are all on page 71 we should still win.

Thanks for that, mate!

Seems to me like they're dropping off their intensity and aggression because they're unfit.

But why do they make so many errors? Lack of concentration and intensity, which I believe are highly linked to a lack of fitness.

We played similarly last year - we'd screw up. The difference then was we were fit, and because we were fit, we were confident we could score as many points as were needed to win.

Of course, it's my opinion, but it seems the most logical answer to me - especially when you consider that we make dumb errors in the first half and yet still manage to come out on top.

Most of the big mistakes are coming straight after half time. They've had a rest, freshened up a bit and should be fine. They just aren't competing mentally for the whole eighty minutes - the blokes on the field on Sunday in the second half looked like they'd never played together. If you spent 60 of the 80 minutes on the field defending because you couldn't handle the ball no matter how fit you are you're going to be tired.

That's true.

And that's why it's even more illogical! They're making these big errors after a break...It makes no sense!

Just because they aren't playing doesn't mean they are on holidays Suity.

They were back in training in mid to late November. They had two weeks over Christmas and were back into it again straight after. ;-)
