I’d take Holbrook just to give a freshening up to structures and voices. Definitely change MON and Rogers and get someone who actually gets on with player managers and can talk the opportunities up to prospective targets. That ain’t happening currently.
Whos Rogers ?
And I reckon Holbrook’s stocks have risen given how poorly the tits are now going … he should definitely be in the frame

Of all the names thrown around I reckon Bennett if he is serious … 3 year min
Otherwise Holbrook for mine … think he had the tits ging ok and with our current squad plus a few tweaks could be just the thing to freshen the whole joint up

I actually think the best available option might be Jason Demetriou. I think he has been held to ransom by Lattrell Michell and Cody Walker. That whole team dynamic seems to revolve around those two - especially Mitchell. He holds great political power while providing f**k all to the team. Imagine the political pressure Demetriou would cop if he dropped Latrell to reserve grade or shifted him to centre? I think Demetriou is a good coach who is totally hamstrung at present. He'd do good at Parra.
I think that's a cop-out.

If JD had big enough balls he would have reigned in Latrell behind the scenes a long-time ago.

Sam Burgess ironically warned them all last year they all ignored it had an off-season to fix it and it's gotten worse.

JD and Souths have reaped what they sowed.

Warning signs have been there for 2 and half years this implosion was coming.

Rod Churchill said the word cancer last year about Latrell it was wrong word to say but everyone knew what he meant and saw it from the outside.

Poison would have been a better word and its been allowed to seep into that joint.

He was also the man that didn't want Reynolds. What a monumental stuff up that has been.

I would worry Demetriou would be pushed around by some of our senior players were he to come, the same way it seems people feel he's allowed too much control to Mitchell and Walker.

The other thing about Demetriou was i found it strange when he was still assistant coach and was taking pot-shots at Seibold back when he was coaching the broncos in 2019 before the covid spoon disaster happened.

Like i found it quite arrogant that a bloke who hadn't coached a FG game was laying into another coach because Seibold beat him to the broncos job.

While Seibs f**ked up brisbane for a few years and we were grateful for that i thought it showed a flawness in Demetriou from the get-go.

An assistant coach taking potshots at another head coach is basically like a waterboy coming on the field and spraying the opposition players.

You could be right. But I still think Latrell Mitchell is a special case. He seems to hold so much power. On NRL 360 last night they were discussing Souths and Demetriou. Not one of those outspoken journos had the guts to really criticise Mitchell. They all skirted around it. You could see the pregnant pauses and the reluctance to say anything. It was bizarre.
If it had been some other player, they would have let him have it. It's bizarre how much power this guy has.

At least Gus had the balls to say some stuff about Latrell a few weeks ago. Thought he was spot on.

For mine, I'd start with MON and Rogers, those are important position and I said at the time Mitch (and his scum agent) held us to ransom and Gutho to a lesser extent.

Talent identification and some decent thrid party sponsors are very important to keep up with the others. Bean counters are not talent identifiers.

They then need to identify the next coach and his training staff to take us to the level at which we should be. Currently we picked the coach first and then the HOF and his staff. I guess its easy to point out now as at 1 stage after all out point deductions BA did all those jobs and still got us in the finals the following year with very average halves. Credit to him for that, but those days are gone now. Time to move forward.

The whole system needs an enima.
