Even though I'm not a fan of Hagan I have to make a point. Hagan did manage to retain Mateo, Hayne and Inu and he got blasted by some fans for apparently paying overs. When he refused to retain Tony Williams because the thought he wasn't worth the money he was asking he got blasted as well. You can't have it both ways people.

Although I disagree with the way retention and recruitment has gone I have to say I'm pleased we were able to keep Mateo, Hayne and Inu even if we did pay overs.

And Hagan recruited Finch from memory.

Compare that to Brian Smith's love affair with Wagon and Ben Kusto, at the expense of Ryan, Schifcofske, Gallan, Jason Smith, Hodgeson, Richards, McCracken, Tookey.....

Just a thought....

We recently lost a halfback for good.

The goss is that some well paid players will be offloaded, freeing up some $$$$

Todd Carney has been chased by a Sydney club.

??????

Dear christ I hope not. The guy is a serial dickhead, we don't need that kind of person at our club.

In fairness to Drew, he has been playing pretty well for Huddersfield.

No he hasn't, he now plays for Wakefield. Having missed a large chunk of the season injured hasn't helped him but he has been pretty average for the most part. And he's on a fairly hefty wage over here and with 12 months left on his contract I doubt he'll sign for peanuts. Put it this way as a Wakefield fan he won't be missed.

Drew to join the Eels

Parramatta coach Michael Hagan says former eels hooker Brad Drew could be at the club next year.
Drew is still contracted to Huddersfield in the English Super League, but has expressed interest in playing in the NRL next season.
Hagan says if the 32-year-old makes the switch, his experience will be a valuable asset to the club.
"There is a little bit of a void there," he said.
"We think a guy like Brad Drew who has got NRL and Super league experience, [and] is looking to comeback to the NRL for one season, might suit our plans pretty well."

There is a real void there Mick.

We are losing one over-the-hill hooker so need to replace him with another ASAP!

what is our plan? to get rid of our best prop (if the talk is true) and replace him with a 33 year old rake?

we need props not hookers.

it seems like hagan knows his days are numbered so he is clutching at straws. instead of signing a player like drew he should be talking to his staff and players to figure out how to correct our pathetic defensive patterns.

listening to adam mcdrugal on fox last night he was talking about the defensive structures brian smith put in place at the knights. we had those structures once upon a time not so long ago. the habits our players had under smith look to have disappeared.

a old rake is not the answer.

I don't care what anyone says, the fact that Hagan is looking to recruit Brad Drew for 2009 proves once and for all that Hagan is bordering on SUPERCOACH status. He is truly one for the ages, who can see outside the box and do things no other coach would dream of doing. What a fair dinkum genius!

Please Fizty! Extend Hagan's contract a further 10 years. PLEASE!

We're still getting over the Tim issues as a squad in my opinion... so I wouldn't go and replace that with Carney's

We didn't have enough money to retain Williams, so we're going to have to be releasing someone to pick up Drew. It couldn't possibly be a forward, Hagan isn't that stupid, well I hope not. I've not seen Drew play lately, but being out of the NRL for 4 years and at 32 I'd want him to be a bargain buy.

I don't think the style of football played nowadays help him. He used to be great off a quick play the ball, and Parramatta certainly don't have that.

DREW!!!!

Fu*k me drunk. The next thing we'll hear is Hages coming out of retirement and put on the boots himself. The super coach reasoning that he can revolutionize the game by executing his master game plans while on the field. Showing some spunk and mongrel, nothing like it.

From the STH Forum yesterday a few of the people that made it have said that the information on Drew would only be picked up as a second tier signing and no player would be released for him to sign. Chad Randall was also mentioned.

Colonel I agree with your comment elsewhere that Randall would be a much better option (I actually suspect Drew is being considered as a halfback option not a hooking one).

The games I have seen him play in ESL he was one of the best on ground. he was a real talent in his early career and left Aus while still young.

Could be a handy acquisition but it still ignores the obvious that we need powerful and dynamic forwards more than anything.

I think Drew is being considered for his ability to play both roles.

Apparently in terms of forwards we are covered...... :?
