Of course but this incident would suggest he isn't properly motivated, that's the point alcohol and mental problems don't mix well at all if he was focused and motivated on getting fit both physically and mentally he wouldn't be drinking at all. He could easily bounce back from this if he gets his personal life right or he could easily get much worse, if what Toovey said about his ongoing mental problems is true its pretty naïve to think this will just go away.

No one is saying this will all magically go away.

He can learn to deal with it. Busting up with your SO when you have two young kids can knock you around a lot, add on top of that an underlying condition, you get a pretty big reaction.

But it is something he can get past and learn to live with. It's equally naive to assume that he's broken forever because he had one bad incident.

Before you jump in and say "it's not just one incident" it kind of is. All the stuff that's been happening is a direct result of that, as I said before, fallout, for lack of a better term.

WTF I'm not criticising anyone read my comments ive said twice he could easily bounce back.
Sorry betcats, I guess I was just doing a Pou and using your comment to address an issue to a wider audience...

Its a real possibility to say he could never get back to where he was when he was at Manly just as much as it is a real possibility to say he could come back much stronger mentally.
Agreed, season-ending shoulder injuries can sometimes mean that players don't bounce back to their previous form. Peter Sterling's career was prematurely ended by one, if I remmeber correctly?

Look at Buddy and Boyd, both took the time off to get their heads and personal lives right and both have come back better than ever.
Exactly, Darius Boyd is now twice the player he used to be. Foran will pull through too with the right support.

ODing on pills - personal issue/cause, hardly disrepute on the club.
Missing a rehab session - $5K fine, in house discipline, hardly disrepute on the club
Having the captaincy stripped - club's own decision, he's not on field anyway, hardly disrepute on the club
Hanging out with a bloke allegedly involved with match fixing - hanging out with someone who has been a long term friend, and long term friend of some of the game's elite (e.g. Joey)? Someone for whom you have to use "alleged" to have a dig? Someone who the police did not issue a caution about hanging around (unlike Junior's mates)? Lol, hardly disrepute on the club.

As I've said, it's all the grubby journos' fault - being fed by some people close to our club who use information for power. Stop falling for all of the media hype, or playing into the hands of those here who want to be in with the in crowd and their "inside information".

Get behind the bloke, and support him as an Eels player going through some tough times we wouldn't wish on our enemies.

Huh? ODing on pills, missing a rehab session, having the captaincy stripped and hanging out with a bloke allegedly involved with match fixing (and before people get up in arms about being allowed to hang out with anyone they want, Junior Paulo has been crucified on here for hanging with bikies) is all the media and 3P's fault?

I do think deliberate and unintentional is important here though, don't you? That is from the perspective of his mental state.

Unintentionally doing it is a mistake and a lesson will be learned.

Intentionally doing it means he wanted to die and that is a much bigger issues for him and his life.

I won't pretend to understand why he hangs out with someone who has massive questions around him. If I was someone who knew the media scrutiny around my actions would be an impact on me, I would distance myself completely from said person(s).

Paulo has hardly been crucified on here for the bikie shit. He's copped far more shit for wanting to leave etc.

And the big difference is, that Paulo was hanging out (well....at least once) with convicted criminals. Foran was hanging out with a man who has not been convicted of any offense AFAIK, nor has he been charged with any offence (AFAIK). I'm not saying that Hayson is good news....far from it....but last time I checked there was no law against consorting with non-criminals.

No more than his shoulder injury. Most mental illness is temporary, just like most physical illness and injury.
Thanks for your input Dr Pou, I'm sure Foz feels so much better now and will just be fine from 2017 onwards

Suffering from depression is a daily battle and it is something hard to get on top of, you might be on top of the world one day and the next you can't get out of bed. Trust me I've been there, but that's right your the expert on everything

If Foz is suffering from 'Situational' Depression, then Pou may well be right as time an heal those wounds BUT Foz may also be suffering from a deeper disorder which may not be able to resolved as easy as some think.

Manly did a great job of covering all of foran's issues up. I know they don't sell papers like we do, so they don't have reporters hanging around for a scoop all the time but they would have gleefully run with a story on him if they got any dirt. I don't believe for a second this all started when he came to parra.

Thats right, but we just don't know what he is suffering from. But to just say she'll be right mate by next year shows a lack of understanding on Pou's part. He's been suffering from something for a few years even Toovey said this and it looks like his relationship breakdown added with an unwell child has sent him over the edge. We all hope he gets the help he needs and Pou is correct and he will be fine by next year but that doesn't mean he won't relapse. Depression is a constant thing and you can never really shake it.

Are you still struggling to get out of bed merkin? You're still able to come on here and make idiotic comments, so it's not stopping you doing your job. That's all we expect from Foran. If he wins matches and then goes home and cries himself to sleep every night that's his business. Twenty grand a week should ease his pain.

Pou appears to have gone to a new level of obnoxiousness on this topic

It might be appropriate to ask "Are you ok Pou?"

More proof you are the forum f**kwit, you are clown making grand statements on Foran's condition which you have absolutely no idea about. But lets face it you don't have a clue on most things, doesn't stop you having an opinion though ;-)

You merkins are the ones saying he's f**ked forever without knowing his condition. Get off your f**king high horse.

As always the truth is somewhere in the middle of the extreme views that some of you take and the equally extreme and opposite views that Pou deliberately takes because he is shit a stirring merkin.
