Attention Gaz

Please send me a PM so I can send the $50 I lost to your favourite charity. I did lose the bet. Even though it's still a provisional finding.

Well that is how I read the NRL statement.

Our best way forward is to
1. Comply by ditching 570k of salary
While at the same time
2. Appealing as best we can. There must be some loophole...

If watmough doesn't take to the field again, there's concession there right???? I'd be using that to try and get under the cap, then appealing the severity of the penalty. Maybe get it halved.

Keep me out of your sprays merkin. I am guilty only of giving the pricks the benefit of the doubt and not buying in to rumour and innuendo.

You will note that I am in no way making excuses for anyone today.

As always, we need to quarantine this club from the usual suspects. Sadly one of them has already appeared grinning like the Cheshire Cat.

After I tried telling you the truth about what's happening and you abused the shit out of me. But keep deflecting you are just as worse as the board you supported.

Call me in denial or in fantasyland or just looking through blue and gold glasses but IF our boys can win a dozen games, and win the whole damn thing, would that not be THE most singularly defining achievement in this club's 70 years?
I will be happy for the players to keep doing what they have been, for Foz to get better, and for Normy, Semi and Jenko and now Guth to keep us entertained as they have done
Whatever happens , this team WILL win a premiership within the next three years

The premiership would have a big fat asterisk next to it and would be unlikely to go down well with the wider NRL community.

In saying that, had we won the premiership this year we would be stripped of it at a later date when all of this came to light anyway which would have been far worse.

Yep, even if we miraculously complied with everything and thoroughly deserved it people would be like,

"LOL YOU CHEATED THE CAP THAT YEAR NOT A REAL PREMIERSHIP"

We have been totally f**ked.

Just think about this, Sharp had agreed with BA as coach and Also Brian Smith as Managrr football, understand the vote was 5-2 to appoint JT. Sharp went to several board members and asked what it would take to change their Mind and appoint Brad. 2 said , appoint DA as we know him as manager, football and we change

We got Brad and Sharp rang Brianto tell Him what had occurred , makes you wonder the real cost of the other appointment :(

This was not from Sharp but one of them that changed their vote

Your gibberish hasn't got us anywhere over the last few months.

Sharp has been obviously way out of his depth and is a complete and utter joke.

He may not be the worst f**k up in the joint or the most malicious but now is T not the day for more of your utterly meaningless bullshit trying to whitewash the bloke.

Freeing up 570K in cap space before next Friday will be impossible. Surely this isn't a hard line stance the NRL are taking. If the club is seen to be at least trying to shuffle its deckchairs then will that be enough for them to allow the team to play for points??

The thing that makes you shake your head is the fact that right now we have 2 players not even getting on the park whose salaries combined are nearing 2 million (1.2M for Foz, ~700K for Watmough)....

No club would have more than pocket change to spare under the cap for this year. Well, maybe the Titans.... Norman to the Titans effective immediately with a big pay rise for 2017 and beyond would help our cap situation and the NRL would be happy to see a big name going up there and might even let us off a couple of hundred grand of the 570K we need to clear. But if we lose Norman we ain't going to be winning too many games for the rest of the season so what would be the point??

This is what you call a clusterf**k of a situation gentlemen...

At least we have a team that can play footy, they mightn't win a comp this year or next but at least they can play which gives me all the enjoyment I need, we don't go after titles much with what we usually got, another season ain't going to kill us, hang tough eels fans.

(I would laugh my freaking arse off if they still make it into the 8, it's all my fault, I put money on them to win the title in February  )

We can't appeal the findings and play for points at the same time. NRL has us in a catch 22. Unless the appeal was successful and all of the penalties were overturned.

I have zero faith in that outcome.

But dont announce it to anyone until all paperwork is completed etc.

We could probably appeal on the basis that he has been injured all season anyway, and contemplating retirement since Christmas (please be some correspondence to someone to this effect)so can we just lose half our points, or just 4....

Yep. If there is correspondes dating back to dec or Jan, it may help us.

lol people can virtue signal all they want, if we aren't playing for points what kind of loser goes to a game and wastes his time and money on a team that doesn't accrue any points? I don't see all of you packing out stadiums for trial matches or the whole stadium filling up for the toyota cup because "It's the Eels, support the boys".

This

I've dragged my family halfway across the state to watch the eels get trounced in recent years and was even planning on going to watch us in new Zealand at the end of the year. I will not being doing that now if we are not playing for points as its a waste of money.

Think about this if the allegations are true and sharp and Co have been cheating the cap they have taken your money knowing full well we would be playing for nothing. I think every seasoned ticket holder and member has a right to be royally pissed off.

And like a lot of the people commenting her that aren't virtue signalling I have zero faith in the NRL.

As a fan of an oppostion team, I feel for all you guys. There is no wrong or right way to act as a fan after todays events but turning on one another isn't going to change what happened.

I think at the end of the day, the players who have busted their asses for the first 1/3 of a season deserve to play in front of packed Parra Stadium, it is not their or your faults that has caused this mess. If anything, don't frequent the f**king leagues club and hit their bottom line there. IMO, if you get under the cap and have the chance to play for points, get your asses out to their games and support them harder than you ever have before.

None of you guys deserve this, I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy, but the fans of other teams also don't deserve to see their teams get beaten by a team that is illiegally paying/retaining/signing players. You can blame the NRL all you want for this but at the end of the day, the f**kwits running the board have done some pretty stupid shit and unfortunately have dragged everyone down with them.

Chin up and move forward. Easy to say as a NQ fan to say, I nearly lost my team in the early 2k's due to a bunch of f**king idiots running the club. A different scenario I know, but it was a reality check that your teams existence can never be taken for granted and you need to back your boys 100% regardless of who's wearing the jersey and the muppets at the top.

Yep, in the year we won the spoons I got 4 hours sleep before work every 2nd weekend we went because of the time it takes driving to Parramatta and back. Being "loyal" doesn't have to be a synonym for getting anal probed.

Even if we play for points I think the damage has been done. There is nothing honorable about supporting the NRL's decision.
