12 wins from 15 games is not impossible for your team. See you guys in the finals.

getting the wins is possible but shedding 570k worth of players to start earning points again will be the hard part especially in a fortnight

no other teams will want to do us a favour so any players we do let go will still have a fair chunk of their salary under our cap

p.s. maybe this is why the club let morgan go mid season they knew the axe was coming and they would have to clear cap space

By close of business today I reckon the following should happen:
1) Sharp, Issa and Serrao stand-down from the Board of the PNRL, pending the outcome of the breach response;
2) Boulous and DA should be suspended from duties (without pay) pending the outcome of the breach response;
3) Geoff Gerard be announced as the new Chairman
4) Gerard should then announce Bevan Paul as the acting CEO of the PNRL until further notice

Bevan's first action should be to appoint Brian Smith and John Quayle to resolve the immediate Salary Cap issues.

We have 10 days until kick-off against Souffs - time to move people.

5) Emjayee as advisor

If we aren't playing the Souths game for points (ie, resolving the $570k issue), then we ought to all get our pitchforks.
This is the easy part, simply must be done.
They can argue until blue in the face that the $570k actually IS at arms length, and lets say they win, great. But the proceedings for that will drag longer than the Hoppa crap, even if we win those proceedings it may well be September already.

Get legal NOW. Get on with it. Our draw is not impossible, Sharks, Broncs, Storm are the big games - Storm is at Pirtek, almost a guaranteed win.
11 from 15 will do IMHO. Almost every year team 9 is on 26 points, that is who we are chasing (since our record would be top 4 worthy). And if teams like Sharks, Cowboys, Broncs and Storm keep winning (which they look like doing), then we may 'only' need 10 wins. The richer the rich are, the more the suffering of the middle class. We are chasing Panthers, Sea Eagles, Warriors, Dragons - all on 8 points.

Win into the bye, then we are on 8. My guess is those blokes will be on 12.

I reckon we're only chasing Panthers and Roosters... The others are dribble.

It would depend what we need to do to get salary cap compliant...surely Watmough insurance thing is the only way we can offload most of it.

Watmough is the key. I think it is possible he could retire now and not affect the cap if it is not a pre-existing injury. But I think we are waiting on the insurer to make a decision, not on if he can retire but whether they will make this payout he is entitled too, technically he could retire and could just pay him out rather then the insurer.

I admire your passion.

I believe the NRL has made it to hard for us, but just enough to keep viewers and spectators interested to keep ratings up.

So if Watmough retires, as OldMa has suggested, we could go back to the NRL and argue we were never over the cap this year ? And get our points back?

Well maybe we cant make the finals but we can still avoid the spoon. I truly think that BA and the boys will not give up on this season. I think they will show a lot of class and determination and I will be at the games cheering them on. Each of us has to deal with this in our own way. If you choose not to go to games or whatever then that is your decision. Im pleased that the punishment has come down because dealing with the actual details is better than dealing with all the speculation. I would rather support a team that has the intestinal fortitude to go out each week and give it their all than one that turns it up and throws in the towel. But that is just a personal opinion. I remember how devastated I was to find out the Storm cheated us out of that grand final. Well I cant be a hypocrite now and not want to be punished. If these things are true then we need to take our medicine and ensure that this cant happen again. Im directing my anger at the people who put us here. And at the scumbags who leaked it. Maybe if we can get rid of these lowlifes this might actually turn out to be the best thing thats happened to us. I know that our finals aspirations are over but our season isnt. Wanting to win and doing our best no matter what is exactly the culture that I have wanted at this club for years. We now have the chance to really cement a winning culture throughout this place. How we react and behave now is very important for our future. I have faith in BA and the boys. Go you good things go!

Considering we have played 9 and 7 of those were against top 8 sides to be on 12 points . Hell YES we can do it . GO EELS :D

I admire your passion.

Twice in the last 10 years during the seaaon, I lost a bit of passion. Not that I didn't want to watch the eels, but just thought we were going that poorly I didn't give us a chance to win a game ( and wasn't concerned if I missed a game here and there)

Those seasons were 2006 and 2009, both times we were deadset looking at the spoon and both times we managed a pretty decent winning run to get into the semis.

So until we are totally no chance of making finals, we need to believe. I am actually going to put some money on us to make the finals / win the comp.

we only got caught because they did a forensic audit yet today Weeks and Greenberg said all the other clubs were fine despite them not having been investigated like we were

the NRL are not doing enough to catch cheats

I completely agree, they should be actively monitoring the caps of all teams. They definitely aren't doing enough, it's scary to think what some team could be getting away with.

Well they did say we are over the cap. That's the reason for losing all our points... Hopefully there something in writing to suggest he's retiring and dealing with the insurance on a payout. Either way we need to appeal this decision. Maybe getting it to 6 points would be an ideal outcome. Like I have stated before, this penalty only hurts the players and fans, not the twats responsible.

No, we could launch legal action to get our points back on that basis.

It would let us play for points vs Souths.
We should towel them up.
Then it is Storm at Pirtek
Then Newie at hunter
Bye

That is about the roughest stretch remaining win those 3 and we are back in the hunt for sure.

The absolute delusion of the emperor arriving at NRL HQ this morning and offering to help, heres a message - if you weren't such a douchebag, then we would still be playing for a chance

Watmong has not retired as yet, so he is still on our wage bill.

They can't back date this but we got till the next game to make something happen imo.

I wonder what players will be let go for us to get under the cap? Let's hope other clubs have some room under their cap to make an offer.

I just hope the Watmough retirement gets settled sooner rather than later.

Assuming it was Fitzy or one of his mates that twent to the NRL, shouldn't you still be directing your anger at those that actually did the cheating? They don't cheat, he can't go to the NRL

Such is the confidence in the Eels, even after this deduction they are still a shorter price ($36) to win the comp than Souths ($38).
