Even if Seward did produce them, it doesn't really change the case against the club. It just changes which officer of the club did it.

It's not an offence to receive a false invoice. It may be an offence to authorise the payment of the invoice knowing it was false. And from a cap perspective, if may be an offence to do this for the purpose of secretly channelling club funds to a player.
Yeah he was an officer for the board so any wrongdoing on his part is between him and board but also makes it wrongdoing on behalf of club against NRL.
But... it throws HUGE suspicion around his testimony to the NRL

Full statement:

NRL update on Parramatta Eels

On Friday, the NRL issued the following update in relation to the Parramatta Eels:

The NRL said today it would determine the number of points to be docked from the Parramatta Eels when it hands down its final determination on the matter.

A spokesman said the penalty proposed by the NRL earlier this week – a $1 million fine and the loss of all competition points earned by the Eels in the 2016 Telstra Premiership – was unchanged.

“As we said from the outset, this is a preliminary decision and the club now has an opportunity to respond,” the spokesman said.

“Once the club's response is considered, the NRL will make a final determination on the penalty which may be the same or it may change.

“It is important to note that no final decision has been made.

“The club can accrue points while the breach process is ongoing but the NRL will determine whether those points are retained in its final determination.

“As we have said before, if the club gets under the Salary Cap in the meantime that will be a material consideration.”

The spokesman said the club would be given adequate time to respond to the breach notice and a final determination would then be made.

The NRL will also consider submissions from the club in relation to its salary cap over the next few days.

Essentially "if you get under cap we will probably allow you to earn points, but if the Party of Five don't stand will probably take them back off you once the court is looking the other way"

That's pretty much how I read it.

Statement 1.
The club can again accrue points once its under the salary cap.
Statement 2.
Regardless of whether the club is under the salary cap or not, if the Hateful 5 do not resign, no points will be accrued.
Statement3.
The club can now accrue points regardless of whether the Hateful 5 resign or not if they are under the cap. However, we may take those points back later if we feel like it.

Unbelievable.

Do we turn it into confetti or shredded paper?

The NRL are having a good look at our submission

Yep. If you saw TG on NRL 360, he has moved the goal posts on us.

Unless we blow their case to pieces we will lose 12 points at the very least.
Tend to agree. Piecemeal changes like Watmough's even backdated retirement or minor differences in quantification, it'd have to be a complete rebuttal as systematic as our cheating to get even 1 point back

Yeh, sure, but if during their audit they've obtained copies of the invoices, and the associated payments without record of receiving goods/services (and they seem dumb enough to have to done this in some cases for goods rather than services.......), then the only thing up for debate is what the TP did with the cash.

But people keep saying we had an opportunity to confess. If Seward did stuff but we weren't aware of it, how can you confess?

A lot of ifs I know.

I'm pretty sure our season is over.

Even if the club fights this by the time it goes through the courts our season will be over.
I think best route is:

1. play like we can still make finals
2. get under cap before next game with as little impact for remainder of season & even less impact for future season (Watmough's retirement determines remainder of impact)
3. if Party of Five have any actual use then get what they need to get done finished and have them stand down before next game (preferably well before)
4. rest of club then runs through breach notice picking up on any potential errors or mitigation and get response back to NRL before deadline
5. listen to NRL's final determination
6. appeal if necessary
7. await determination of appeal

Party of Five can continue their case against the NRL as long as they want away from the club, because at the end of the day they have snowball's of ever getting another job in NRL ever again regardless of facts or outcome

Let's clear this up: the Eels are way over the cap, or not so much. The #ParraFive are out, but maybe not. Choc is done, but wasn't before.
