So the media reporting we could lose anywhere from 0 - 16 points on either next Friday or another date to be fixed. Can't believe the NRL is still leaking information to these merkins

Nothing had to be leaked to the media for them to report what you have stated.

We COULD lose 0 points (if our response is accepted and shows we have done nothing wrong)
We COULD lose 16 points (if we beat Tits this weekend we will have 8 wins and the final penalty could increased from the preliminary breach notice if we are found to be further at fault)
The announcement COULD be as early as next Friday or any other date following the appeals process being completed.

COULD just means it is a possibility with no level of assurance or likelihood applied.
It is just the media keeping their clickbaits up based on information that is common knowledge anyway.

By the way, we COULD sign Thurston, Smith and Hayne for 2017 and COULD win the premiership twice before 2020.

;-)

Your argument was going well until the last sentence, which I think you will struggle to come up with an argument that COULD happen and we would be salary cap compliant.

Salary cap COULD go up by $2M or Greenburg COULD be hired as our new CEO.

Too easy. :sarcasm:

Or, we could rename us as the Broncos, sign players on contacts for no more than $300k, never to be investigated properly and play every Friday night

That should work, it does currently

If Parramatta had their own TV Station kicking in 45% of #9's money to the NRL I think we would get Primetime every week as well.

As for the Contracts, that is the Benefit of a one team town. You would think the Gold Coast, Newcastle, The Cowboys and the Warriors and to some extent the Dragons would all be on that sort of game.

It is only the clubs that arn't corporate (You know working mans clubs) that don't have rich benefactors willing to get a player as the promotional face of their company.

Its why we need at least one more team in Brisbane.

Even then will it hurt them ?

Seriously Sydney has a tonne of teams, but the players with Big TPA's are at like 3 clubs. Roosters, Rabbits and Manly (because lets face it Manly is not part of Sydney per say and there is a large supporter base that features in the top echalone of business)

It may not hurt them too much but it is better than continuing to have Brisbane as a one team town.

If they had a choice I think some corporates in SE Qld would prefer something other than the Broncos.

Having been up there several times, the number of people who are indeed fans of other clubs up there would most probably adopt a second team and so would some SE Qld companies, then again the Gold Coast is only a short drive or train trip away.

Whilst it is only a short train ride or drive away, the reality is that Brisbane and the Gold Coast are worlds apart.

There are plenty of good reasons for another Brisbane team including that it would be a decision (maybe the first in 30 years) that is against the best interests of the Broncos. The current feeling that the Broncos are protected (in addition to having TPA advantages) is probably a leading cause of other clubs looking at cheating the cap.

A new Brisbane rugby league team might inflict another wound on the Brisbane Lions as well. It would certainly weaken the Melbourne Storm (which would delight me) as it would dry up their source of players.
