You didn't get my point. If we have already paid Watmough more than minimum wage for the year then why does he drop out of our top 25 which is based on your annual total payments to all players? Same with Morgan (although reportedly on $140k, so he's only received $70k, in which case missed opportunity unless Scum want to do us a solid, it's the least they could do really).

I can't find any indication on NRL's salary cap page further on this issue but lends credence to the fact players don't need to be at club to be in top 25.

Yes, but situations you cite are cases of the Eels continuing to pay players who are playing at other NRL clubs. Watmough is leaving the system entirely. They're not exactly the same situation.

Oh yes, I agreed. What I mean the eels would have budgeted to be paying both Watmough and Jennings in 2017. With Watmough retired, his contracted is freed up but is not needed for Jennings as it was already budgeted for.

I'm not sure we did budget for Watmough beyond this year. I reckon he was always going to retire, but wanted to get onto the field one last time for a send off.

Because he would be in a lot more demand than De Gois. We also need clubs to want to take the players we tap.

I totally agree, my issue is I think Peats is a huge part of the culture and steel that BA had built at the club.

His attitude, his line speed in defense is something we would really miss.

Because no one wants him. Titans are actually interested in Peats by reports from the media.

I'm surprised we got rid of Morgan.

When he was injured IDG did the job almost as well. I actually think IDG is better at

i) running from Dummy half
ii) Leads the defensive line speed faster than Peats
iii) goes after the kicker (hardly see Peats do this)

I would rather Peats stay but thinking from the brain, he should be let go.

If IDG has 2 years left in him, I think that suits us as it allows Pritchard to play off the bench to gain more experience

I was only musing about Newcastle as they would have space in the cap given the quality of their roster. It may be somewhere else.
