I think Mateo's selection in many of the sides is based on his potential rather than being a player who has stamped his authority on a vast number of games like the other players have. There is not doubt about his talent but let's be honest, he's very hot cold and not worthy to be in the team of the decade.

I am actually quite surprised at the number of people who chose Tim Smith

tbh, I think it goes to show how much we were lacking in that one position, no offence to Smith and Taylor but we have been missing that 1 x Factor which could well have nailed us a premiership or 2.

It's a decade, not a century, and let's face it... it's been a very hot and cold Decade so maybe Feleti's a perfect fit!

you could be right, I included him on my bench purely because of his 07 form but I could of easily put solomona in there ahead of him.

He'll wanna HTFU. He's been a pro footballer since 2004 and will be 26 in 2010. Time is running out for everything to click into place.

I don't get Gronk's issue with Mateo, I picked him at 5'8th in my side because quite simple he's been the best there out of an inconsistent bunch. He was our best player in 2008 not just 2007.

Let's face it, Wagon, Buettner, Dykes, Witt, Morris, Finch, Jeremy Smith... not to mention experiments with Lee Hopkins, Dean Widders and Mark Riddell. None of them lasted much more than a season in the pivot spot whereas Mateo has shown his best form there.

for a start, Feleti never played a full season at 6 while Micky B did with exception of maybe 1 game in 01. i think Beautner's form that year was absolutely brilliant.

I didn't pck him cos I think Buettner was better - but I rate Feleti highly - just maybe see him more as a back rower too .... as I said give feleti another yr or so (injury free) and I reckon he'll be one of the first picked

Corey Pearson would be pissed that he's now the forgotten 5/8. ;-)

Until hayne's form blitz this season mateo had established himself as our classiest player.

He led the dally m's last year based on his form at 6, which was the best and most dominant form of any player in that position since kenny for us IMO.

He has been in the top grade for about 2.5 seasons of wich he lost 3/4 to injury. That is the only reason he is at all a controversial selection but to me has already shown more than mick buettner.

Mindy you gronk was one of finch's and fitzy's biggest fans so he's no flash judge.

I'm pretty sure Daniel Wagon played quite a number of games at 5'8th in 2001, and Dykes was first choice number 6 in 2002. Michael Buettner wasn't outstanding in 2001 either, he was a solid member of the team who performed really well and contributed to the team but that's as far as it goes. Mateo's form at 5'8th last year had him being talked up for origin.
