Eels Team vs Bulldogs - Round 9.

The only reason to play Sandow on the bench is if Kearney thinks that Canterbury is going to severely target him in defense in the first 20 as Johns did to JT in 2001. Otherwise it makes no sense (again).

It might have made sense to start McGuire at hooker for the first 20 mins and to then have Keating play the next 60 mins. But again our hooker rotation makes no sense.

none of our rotations make sense

Why name Sandow on the bench? Does Kearney think he's being witty or clever doing this?
How f**king hard is it to name the side properly!

Kearney struggles with selecting words for his sentences, too. (How did this guy get through the job interview?)

Might not want to give the opposition such an easy target early in the game. Might also want to bring Sandow on when the game has opened up a bit.

Barba and Cronk both spent their entire rookie seasons coming off the bench.

Anyway, just because Sandow's wearing 14 doesn't mean he won't start the match. Not saying I think he will, but when did the side named on Tuesday ever have to correspond to what runs out on match day?

Hindy was moved permanently to the front row (and Fui to edge forward) in round 5 against Manly but there's been no media frenzy over it (other than some commentators starting to notice he's playing fewer minutes) because he's stayed in jersey 11.

The league media. A bunch of f**king idiots writing to a bigger bunch of idiots. And yes that includes me; I lap their shit up.

Two, eh? So it`s pretty rare, then. And Sandow`s not a rookie.

Maybe SK just wants to start with a stronger defensive side and bring on Sandow after the opening exchanges... Always struck me as the type of coach who doesn't subscribe to the notion that attack is the best form of defence.

The reason for that is because in attack you can play to your strengths and play away from your weaknesses. In defence that decision is mostly out of your hands - it's the opposition that decides.

Same starting pack as last week. Do you think Ryan played prop against the Tigers? I assume you watched the game.

Here's a hint - Hindy wears number 11 no matter what position he plays.

exactly, which is why Hindy came off after the first 15 mins or whatever it is...he's now officially playing Front Row and wearing 11, as suggested above....

he's been playing that way for a while now really, as I have suggested recently too

Needs Fui in the starting line up. Hindy should be playing his normal 13 defensive role instead of being playing in the front row. Just let him tackle his arse off which is what he does best.

32 tackles in 41 minutes last week. Only Mitch Allgood worked harder in defence (27 tackles in 29 minutes).

So Hindy still does tackle his arse off. The bonus is he can work even harder, and he's not on for the whole match stifling our attack.

With Paulo at lock, his short passing in the middle of the field allowed our big edge forwards to make heaps of runs at the Tigers halves (Fui 11 runs 119m and Ryan 12 runs 82 metres).

I find this team strange, but wouldnt surprise me if this wasnt the 17 (in this order) on game night.

You might see Allgood to start with Ryan in the backrow, Paulo/Maitua to the bench, and Sandow to start with McGuire in the halves, Roberts to the bench.

You talking about benny roberts' pass?

umm, yes.

i'm not even sure where else to begin with the rest of his diabolical display, whether it was his horrific defence or his mind-boggling errors with the ball in attack.

so Quarterback is probably the easiest for now - hey people were looking for a nickname for him ;-)

you just beat me to posting this, especially after i just watched some highlights of the final few minutes of that game....i think there is a strong chance of this happening

McGuire actually looked like he is NOT just a card-board cut-out of his former self in those last 15 mins and actually gave nice, crisp, early ball to his outside support players
