Eels trial.

It's no surprise hayden Knowles leaves and our fitness levels have dropped. We can all say that we had 6 out and parra were full strength but u can't deny how slow our players looked yesterday.Luai t'oo and some of our forwards looked like we are still in party mode and spent the off season at kfc.Manly claim to be the fastest side in the nrl we have 11 days to get up to speed or 36-0 here we go again.

It was a trial. I don't think the players cared. Parra definitely had a point to prove and played like it.
Round 1 matters.

Who's better than us though? Only Easts and Melbourne can match us in the finals. We'll be ok
You won each of last year's finals by a couple of points, meaning you could have lost any of those games. There's no foregone conclusions. Many games come down to luck on the day, but humans crave a narrative so we add one after the fact to pretend whatever happened was inevitable.

Note I'm not saying every game is a toss of the coin, but plenty of them might as well be. This is how we can have sports gambling.

In context, we were walking wounded with a number of players. Fully fit through that 2021 finals series, and we coast through.

Nonsense.
We made the GF the year before without any pain of losing.
We are just a good footy side that will get better and better.
No team gets better and better. The window gets bigger or smaller. Sometimes it shuts completely. The strongest clubs like Melbourne and Easts have the biggest windows and if they do ever shut it's only for a single season. Other clubs like Wests (and Parra pre-2019) might have to wait years for their premiership window to open briefly.

Your window peaked last year and you were lucky enough to win. There were at least five other teams who were also a chance of winning, as there is most years. Parra's window peaks this year and we will also need some luck to win it (as does every premier). Even if you make the top four you need some luck on the day. Two evenly matched teams might as well be a coin toss.

Every team is carrying injuries at that time of the year. That's why teams that are losing tend to have more players unavailable. If they were winning some of those guys would play injured.

Parra had Sivo and Mahoney unavailable. Our number two hooker was also out. There could've been any number of players carrying injuries as well, across every finals team.

17. C. Smith, Hopgood

Looking at this we do need a centre and 2nd row, I agree. If we we're to get C. Oates. I think he has a bench spot, covers wing and 2nd row. Rotation early in the season is key to keep it going at the back end of the season. Short experience and numbers.
2nd row we have riki he is out at the moment but a decent player when fully fit rd 12 or 13 he will be available.Yes centre is a problem tago looks the most promising other than him not much.

Most clubs have players out or carrying injuries that late in the year. But it is rare to play a FB with a broken foot and a halfback needing a shoulder recon.

Plenty of our players in Key Positions have room to improve. Nathan played half the year with 1 arm, tell me he won’t be better.

I don’t really care about windows, curtains or sliding doors.

I just look at the team and see who I think will improve, we have a lot.

Lucky, hey? The Panthers played in that side, many who were not a full strength. Give credit when credit is due.

I don't see us having a top 4 roster when Origin and injuries hit.

We are one centre and a backrower short in the top 17 for starters. Even closer to others if the senior guys miss any major game time

The doomsdayers are at it again. One loss is all it takes. How many games have we lost in the last two years. Sure we have lost some very good players. I am VERY confident we will do well again this year and challenge for the premiership. Some of you , not all need to take a deep breath and trust the processes and coaching staff. We will be fine!
