Ok maybe today you have said you agree that his time may be up, but you have also basically said that there is noone available better than him.
Flanagan - Sponsors will whinge.
You know what they will whinge about more? People not tuning in or turning up to games
Ciraldo - Unproven
Sure is, however so was every coach at one stage, even BA. The only head coaching experience he had prior to our gig was the 6 games with us at the end of 2012, Batemans Bay Tigers, Cairns Brothers and Melbourne U20's.

So you still really are backing him without backing him.
I think you're just looking for people to be angry at today. The only thing I said today was that I was not in favour of sacking, then hiring. I'm not Robinson Crusoe regarding Flanagan, so I'm hardly backing BA by being cautious about him being head coach.

If you look at my post history I think you'll find I am pretty measured about most things, apart from the occasional drunk rant.
I am not angry at all, merely pointing out that while you are telling is you aren't backing BA, your other statements seem to contradict that to a point. I am sure if Bellamy, Cleary, Bennett were available you would happily agree to them over Arthur. However we have to be realistic about our current situation with BA and the possibility of decline with him versus getting someone else in and the possibility of improvement.
As Chipmunk showed with his stats about our games over the past 12 months, the proof is that the players are just not responding to BA anymore, and he appears to be out of idea on how to get them to.
Sometimes change for change sake isn't a good idea, but other times it is. I think we are now in the latter

You keep implying that I am in favour of keeping the coach. Not true, it's just that your idea of a professional transition is different to mine. If you are as measured as you claim, you'd realize that we are not streets apart.

I believe the hope a lot of people who want BA gone ASAP is that there is still time to save our season. We are in 6th position with a realistic chance of top 4 IF our players play to their potential. We saw how quickly things can change with a new coach and player buy in at Bulldogs.
I don't want to give up on the season while we still have a chance, but unfortunately don't see that happening with BA at the helm.
We could wait until the end of the season, after whimpering out of the finals again or missing them completely for a more professional transition, and that is likely what the club will do. Bit as a supporter, don't you want to take every opportunity to win when it is present?

I have no idea why you have gone down this path. Ive not tried to say anything pro BA. I said Papa is the only real talent loss
My point was that the players all new who our coach was going to be for this season as BA was still contracted to us. Anything beyond this season shouldn’t really be relied upon by players as it can change so rapidly.

There was no need to rush and re-sign BA and we should have at least waited until mid this year to see how he had us playing.

Force him out of the club or pick him in first grade....

Confused High Quality GIF
You forgot another alternative…

Keep him in reserves and weaken our first grade side this year and he digs his heels in stays next year. Hell, he might even get back into the first grade side if BA is punted.

We’ve clearly given up on this year if we’re weakening our current top 17 to try and free cap space for next year.

There's only 9 days left in the month or the date that teams need to finalize their rosters.

The only thing we ended up achieving with the re-signing of the coach was an inability to have punted him by now.

So you think BA will bring Nrown straight back into first grade post 1st Aug? I don’t think that’s the most likely scenario.

Brown is probably on twice as much as Makka. Is he twice the player ?
I suspect he's probably on 4 times as much, but what they're on isn't relevant. The best 17 get picked each week no matter what. The only caveat to this is around injury, or fatigue management. etc.

Brown doesn't need to be 4 times as good as Makatoa to get a game ahead of him, he only needs to be the better player.

Makatoa is a reserve grade level player and the coaching staff know it, hence why he gets 10 minutes yesterday.

The Brown stuck in Reserve Grade is a disgrace, and the board should have the balls to step in and sort it out. If it was in the real world, someone like Brown would've taken the matter outside of the team to get it sorted by now.

The Brown and Jake Arthur situations personify exactly why the coach is no longer the option going forward.

It has a similar feel to the time Brian Smith when he was coaching Newcastle not picking Kirk Reynoldson in 1st grade, almost out of spite seemingly, because he didn't want Kirk to play the x-amount of games Kirk needed to play in the top grade to trigger a 1 year contract extension. Newcastle we're going like busters, and Kirk was easily a top 17 player at the time but Smithy stuck to his guns.... These coaches can certainly carry on like demigods on occasion.....
