Any truth the Rumour that Jakey needs a play a certain amount of games to trigger an upgrade for next year?? There has to be some reason to pick him in the 17 and it’s not form or talent related.

In fairness to Jake, the club has put itself in the situation where he is basically the one and only back up half option if Moses is injured. That strapping Moses is wearing suggests that he probably is severely hampered, and if he goes down our kicking game will be severely f**ked. With Niukore in the team, we realistically can cover every other position on the field if there is an injury. We also don't really appear to use the 17th player whilst the game matters, so carrying him probably doesn't matter too much.

We were at full strength yesterday, and the coaching staff were still only prepared to really use 15 players. The only players outside of that 15 that I would say the coaching staff would have confidence of puting in the team would be Opacic for one of the outside backs. That basically means that the coaching staff has confidence in only 16 players in the entire f**ken squad now. They have to be taking the f**ken piss.

Brown has to be in the 17.

The fact the club has got itself into the situation where Jake Arthur is the only option is more the issue.

@Gronk, I’m a bit confused why BA warrants a “professional transition”…

You keep implying that I am in favour of keeping the coach. Not true, it's just that your idea of a professional transition is different to mine. If you are as measured as you claim, you'd realize that we are not streets apart.
…and yet you seem absolutely fine with BA keeping a top 17 player in reserve grade to get him to leave.

Why aren’t they treated the same?

I suspect he's probably on 4 times as much, but what they're on isn't relevant. The best 17 get picked each week no matter what. The only caveat to this is around injury, or fatigue management. etc.

Brown doesn't need to be 4 times as good as Makatoa to get a game ahead of him, he only needs to be the better player.

Makatoa is a reserve grade level player and the coaching staff know it, hence why he gets 10 minutes yesterday.

The Brown stuck in Reserve Grade is a disgrace, and the board should have the balls to step in and sort it out. If it was in the real world, someone like Brown would've taken the matter outside of the team to get it sorted by now.

The Brown and Jake Arthur situations personify exactly why the coach is no longer the option going forward.
I agree with that. Their contract value only needs to come into the equation when you are talking about resigning. Right now we are paying for them both anyway, so may as well use the better of the 2.
If we were talking about who out of both you would resign if you had to for their current contract value, then yes there is an argument for Makatoa over Brown

Huh ? Who said that a professional transition to a new head coach was for the benefit of Brad Arthur ?

Clearly the model proposed by Souths with Bennett leaving, set the benchmark for the least disruption. Fans and sponsors happy etc players knew exactly who the coach was going to be in 2022.

Not saying that we can mimic their template exactly, but it's a far better outcome than what the the popular NRL model of sack, caretaker and who knows what is next.

I called it a while ago but who the f knows. There’s a motive behind. It can’t be in performance. Kid is a dud.

The only way that works is when the head coach doesn't want to stay for one reason or another. That is a rare occasion. Most head coaches do not leave on their own terms but are sacked or not renewed. I can't see many happily having their replacement sit next to them for a year

The play where Gutho got folded in half, for the second week in a row, is an example of how predictable and slow our offense is. The halves or middle forwards dont take the ball to the line. The opposition wingers see Gutho out the back and have enough time to meet him with force just as he gets the ball.

As opposed to Simmo, who has no f**ken idea whats going on when the opposition is attacking and supermans in between defenders.

Yes I already acknowledged that we could not emulate the Souths model of transition.

Next best transition was Sharks who lined up Craig Fitzgibbon and then sacked Morris.

Again, far better than the sack and fingers crossed model.

Strong businesses have succession plans, dumb businesses don't.

Hasn’t seemed to affected the dogs so far. Ciraldo also took over as caretaker when Griffin was hooked before the finals at Penrith. Same thing across plenty of clubs. Its not that unprofessional really as it seems to be the norm rather than the exception.

You seem to be trying to allude that Bennett was going to be happy with whoever Souths chose. I would assume Bennett informed Souths that the only person they will be signing as his under study replacement under him is Demetriou. I would even go to as far as to say that this plan was already conceived before Bennett had signed the final deal. The idea that the club chooses someone like Ciraldo/Flannagan/whoever and BA would be happy with that arrangement is fanciful.

And while on last nights "Fan Experience", who at our club thought having a "Fat Mans Race" was a good idea? Lets get 2 fat guys out of the crowd to race 100 metres so the crowd can laugh at them. Honestly you couldn't make this sh*t up. Unprofessional? Undignified? Inappropriate? Not even close to how it played out. Utterly disgraceful. Little wonder BA is still employed 9 years later with this mob running things.
Then there was the introduction of this seasons NRLW Team members. Name announced, name lit up on the screens and stood at the players tunnel so only the suits in the expensive seats could see them. What about a fuc*ing photo on the screen so we know whos who? Talk about amateur hour. I thought maybe they were lined up for a guard of honour for the NRL Team to run through. Of cause not. They then wandered off like Browns Cows.
Then there is that fu*k stick announcer with his one liner "LETS MAKE SOME NOISE". Thats it. Its all he has.
Then of cause we have half time where mini footys are thrown into the crowd. Every week they throw them to the same section of the crowd. Unbelievable. At least they ran out of blue and gold flares last night that usually ruin visibility for the first 10 minutes of game time.
Couldnt organise a fu*ken chook raffle.
In a word, Embarassing.
Apart from all of that I enjoyed myself. I seriously dont expect any better now days.
