Well, the CEO sits on the board of basically every public company....so unless there's something specific in the constitution of the PDRLFC, there would be no reason why this would automatically disqualify someone.
John Chidiac stood down from the board when he took on a full time position with the leagues.

Thanks Stagger, I'm sure if it was against the constitution more would have been said. I believe it would need to be in the annual report if payment was made.

was this a paid position on staff?

Is a board member allowed to take up a paid position while still on the board?

I believe, according to the rules they can. This link shows the rules in regards to eligibility to vote or nominate for Election to the board.

http://staticnrl.sportalhosting.com/site/_content/document/00003533-source.pdf

Clause 40 a of the Club's constitution said:
a) No playing member of active graded referee will be eligible to stand for election to the Board of the Company unless the nominaton of that person for the purposes of such election is accompanied by a request that if successful at such election his name be removed from the list of register players of the Company or the list of active graded referees published by the League as the case may be;

Yes, as normally the CEO is also given the title of company secretary. During the previous administration, Fitzy was the company secretary, and from the time the final board meeting of their elected term was over till the votes were declared, the Secretary of the company has control of the company.

If my memory serves me correct fitzy asked the question yesterday and it was confirmed that they only paid for the airfare.. Fitzy had no further questions regarding the matter

Indeed, but Fitzy also pressed about who was the company secretary, as Geoff Gerard was named as the secretary, but apparently so was Bob Bentley, and Fitzy stated the constitution has no provisions for two company secretaries. Then there was the whole question as to who was our (PDRLC)'s elected representative to the NSWRL, and bought up that Geoff was an elected board member but removed himself from that position to be our representative to the NSWRL and had not once passed on anything to the PDRLC from the NSWRL.

I think you'll find Mark, and if you confirm this with Peter Nolan that they had an 18's squad train on during the season even after comps had concluded, Ray would come down once a week to assist Craig Wilson with coaching them..

That may be true, but not what that article implies.

As to the 18's train on squad wouldn't that be what we were calling "The Academy" last year?

Thanks for clearing that up MITS I almost suffered a migraine because of that...

yeah the yelling out from the Peanut gallery didn't help, and I was busy remembering constitutional points.

Might ask Ken Edwards to be a nice chap and get the clubs constitution in a PDF and wack it up on the site.

Should also be required reading for those on the Dias, and those running for election.

Sounds exciting.

Anyway it's been pointed out that the football club is about the juniors and not the NRL side. So why is it the football club members get emails about the NRL side and leagues club members don't?

Maybe I joined the wrong club in all the confusion.

Interestingly enough, one of the ParraFirst candidates for election was challenged on his eligibility by the Returning Officer due to him holding Referee qualifications and in the past having been a referee.

He was allowed to remain a candidate only because he is no longer an "active" referee and hasn't been for a few years.

He is of the view that this was brought to the attention of the Returning Officer by a member of the Parra4Ever ticket.

And why is it the CEO of the football club deals with the NRL club. Which board does Ken Edwards answer to? Hopefully the day comes sooner rather than later when the League's Club board just have to worry about the League's club.

LOL - you get the emails if you are a member of the NRL Club which was explained to me on Sunday as part of being a ticketed (STH) or non-ticketed member. It just so happens that when you become a member of the NRL Club you also get PDRLC membership.

But you already knew this ME.

Guys, it isnt that hard to understand the structure(s) in place and the reasons for them and I personally dont understand the hang up everyone has about the different boards and different clubs.

Effectively we have 3 'clubs' and 2 boards.
Clubs:
1. Parramatta Leagues Club (the licenced premises)
2. Parramatta DISTRICT Rugby League Club (the footy club)
3. Parramatta NRL Club (ticketed and non-ticketed members)

You get membership of the NRL club when you buy your membership pack, whether Ticketed (STH) or not. With this you get automatic membership of the PDRLC as a bonus (and a seperate membership number). You can become a member of PDRLC in its own right, without membership of NRL Club. With Parramatta Leagues Club membership you only get membership of the Licenced Premises (disregarding the current offers of dual membership).

So I have 3 Parramatta memberships and 3 different membership numbers, one for each of the above.

Boards:
There are 2 boards. One for the Leagues Club and one for the PDRLC. The NRL Club doesnt have its own board and uses the Leagues Club board due to the current ownership structure. The PDRLC supplies 3 directors to the Leagues Club board for purposes of ensuring RL representation on the LC board.

By the way, Ken Edwards is the CEO of the PDRLC and the Parramatta NRL Club. Bob Bentley remains overall Group CEO, including CEO of Parramatta Leagues Club and Parramatta Power Soccer Club. Ken Edwards therefore reports to both Boards.

MITS, I think i have it right. Let me know if I missed something or got something wrong. :sarcasm:
