Good on you Muttman, first member of a ticket (other than Tony Bongo who is a long time poster here) to reach out to the forum membership and directly give them an invite to make contact :thumn.

If only the incumbents would get on here do the same... hang on, I just had a flashback to late 2008 .

Hi Guys, I'm not here to promote myself for the election as I realise it's against the rules etc. I've read through this blog and there seems to be a bit of misinformation about ParraFirst. So to clear up any confusion I'd just like to invite anyone on the forum who has any questions or concerns about the ParraFirst ticket to please make contact with us and ask us directly. We'd welcome any questions you may have.
You can contact me or any of the ParraFirst candidates through any of our social media or our website. Cheers, Matt Hollier.

Anything even remotely associated with Ray and Fitzy is a bad move. I'd vote for shit before voting for people associated with those two. Best thing you could tell your mate Raaay is to stop helping.

Like I said I can't really respond to any questions in here as its against the rules. However I think you'll find any association you are suggesting is probably overstated. Please feel free to contact us directly if you have any questions at all. We'd welcome any and all questions.
By the way I think there is an article in the SMH about us today which may set the record straight on a few things for you.

. FORMER Eels supremo Denis Fitzgerald introduced some of the candidates on the ParraFirst ticket for the upcoming football club elections, but they insist he will not play an influential role in the future.
The launch of the ParraFirst ticket has sparked rumoursthat Fitzgerald, whose 30-year reign as Parramatta chief executive ended when the Roy Spagnolo-led P3 Group won a landslide victory at the 2009 leagues club elections, may return to power if control of the board changes hands.
But ParraFirst candidate Phil Sim responded to the speculation on the nospam14 website he runs, saying Fitzgerald's only involvement had been to introduce him and Matt Hollier to Steve Sharp and to provide advice on the constitution of the club.

''We've been asked a few times on Facebook and personally whether this is a 'Denis Fitzgerald ticket','' Sim wrote. ''Matt and I met Denis midway through the season because Matt bumped into him at a game and at that time we were looking at putting together our own ticket and we wanted to change the constitution and restructure things.
''Denis offered to explain why everything was the way it was and we had coffee with him. He then suggested we hook up with Steve Sharp and what he was doing and that was how we became involved.
''However, from that very first meeting we attended this has been Steve Sharp's ticket and Steve has made all of the final decisions about the candidates. Once the candidates were decided on, it's been our decisions as to what policies we've taken forward, campaign decisions.''
A number of candidates supported change in 2009, and Sim said Fitzgerald opposed the restructure that ParraFirst was campaigning for at the December 8 election and April's leagues club ballot, which would give the football club more power.
''We fully support the current administration,'' Sim said. ''We are 100 per cent committed to putting in place a new structure and new boardroom processes that take Parramatta forward into a new era, and we're certainly not interested in going back in time.
''Past administrations have had their time to put their stamp on the club. We want the chance now to do likewise because we think we can help make this club great again.''

Seriously, this letter isnt likely to get a response and if I was a cynical bastard I would wonder if it was even sent. But posting it on websites that the voting members see - yep it sure gets my vote on the 8th. I mean he has done more than the current Board and CEO to get Izzy here... :sarcasm: :sarcasm: :sarcasm:

Given the calibre of some of the canditates running for the board, it makes me even more disappointed that 1-2 board seats aren't made available to be "offered" by the club to a potential board member, rather than being voted upon.

High profile, senior members of large corporates just wont go through a "popular vote" election, but I'm sure if the club had the ability to cherry pick and ask them to join the board, we would get some people onboard with a skill set that we just haven't seen at our club.

Sadly, such a system would require those offering those board positions to be doing so for the good of the club, not the good of the remaining board members, and I'm not sure I'm confident of that now, or in the future.

And herein lies the crux of the problem in my opinion.
The upcoming elections are for the Board of the Parramatta District Rugby League Football Club and not for the body that controls the NRL team. Yes, there is a cross-over of directors required for the both the PDRLC and the PLC however the process and structure we have for Board Member selections to lead the key football entity is wrong.

We need 3 Boards/entities to make it work.
1. Controlling the Leagues Club
2. Controlling the NRL team
3. Controlling the PDRLC

Leagues Board provides 2 directors to the NRL Board and 2 directors to the PDRLC board as it is the primary funding source for both of these entities.

The PDRLC provides 2 directors to the NRL board as it has the interest of Junior Rugby League Development at heart and should have representation on the Senior Board.

NRL Board provides 2 directors to the PDRLC board as it is the lead Football board.

Each board should have 9 directors, 4 from a cross over as described above, 3 that can be popularly elected and represent the people and 2 that can be pre-selected from interested candidates with the right skills for the particular board.

Just my opinion and happy to be proven wrong.

Good to see Phil has been putting some of what he learnt writing in the Forum Sevens to good use. I'm surprised there isn't a photo of a little kid making puppy dog eyes featured with the story. Seriously it is like seeing the letters and stories written when people miss out on a ticket to a sellout game.

Glenn Duncan and in turn Eric Grothe were given board positions without a 'popular vote' .

I received a letter from Parra First today, outlining their objectives and urging me to vote on the 8th, signed "Yours in Blue & Gold".

Attached were profiles of the candidates and a FAQ page.

Well, unfortunately for Parra First, plans for that Saturday morning prevent me from voting.

Anyway, best to stay away from all of this political bullcrap.

I am sure that it will be pure coincidence that the Izzy deal is inked a few days before the election. ;-)

Not saying it's a dumb move, cos I would do the same thing.
