Election thread V2.0

That's right, get some non footy people on there and the $6m grant could be cut to $1m just like that.

Can we stop discussing all 7 of 3p getting on the board as there is no way on earth it will happen:

1. as per the constitution all members need to be advised of a special resolution 21 days prior to the agm. this means it would have been included in the annual report.

2. if it is changed down the track it will only be for future elections, it cant change a result after it has been declared.

3. the new board dont take over until the end of the agm so they arent going to be able to embarass themselves by calling for a vote that is illegal.

end of story. lets focus on eels smashing the cowboys and the new directors looking like geniuses even though they havent taken office.

Well said. Finally some reality to this thread. Whatever happens in the future you cannot retrospectively change the result of the election that operated under the constitution in place at the time.

If you want to change it in the future, you'd probably need a special general meeting, which would cost a heap to stage at a club already struggling financially - not very responsible simply to soothe the egos of those who missed out.

If this motion is moved at the AGM, the Chairman should quite rightly rule it out of of order and move on. As a member, I would want 21 days notice of such an important change to the constitution of my club and see the opposing arguments in black and white before making up my mind.

Remember, this has been in place since the club started, not another Fitzy conspiracy theory. The way some things read on this forum, it seems he'll soon be blamed for the outbreak of swine 'flu.

I'm more than happy with the outcome, I'd rather we just let this go and get on with the job.

That's bollocks imo, just quietly.

Neithe rside informed voting members adequately of the rules of the election, and teh Special Qualification in the constitution. Bit rich to then turn around and claim a mandate for changing the constitution when no-one was informed in the first place.

Hapy for them to move the NRL responsibilities back under the FC, as that is something I've agreed with 3P on since last year. But they don't need to remove Hilditch and Gerard to do that, as both of them also serve on the FC anyway, so you'd think having them stay on the LC would be advantageous to that goal.

Reading between the lines it seems like Denis has explained to Terry that you simply can't change the Constitution in retrospect, and alter the rules under which the election had been conducted after the results are in.

Bart we had a 77% voting majority, that is called clear mandate for change. I told you guys that I would be stepping back after the elections and I am, but I will be coming on here after the AGM, to talk about issues that you have concerns on, and I will voice them to the management. I will not however be privy too, or talking about board matters.

Talk next week.
Sevens.

I can tell you first hand that all isn't as Rosey as it seems within the walls of the Football CLub in relation to any of the newly elected members !!!!

not going to name any names but there is a very definite uncertainty amongst the entire staff at the footy club.. and part of that concern is with relation to "jobs for the boys" and the lack of any apparent focus being given/made visible to the staff in terms of policy, direction or intentions...

and now the leagues club election has given 3P a wider mandate with no challenge.....

I think it's only natural that staff would feel that way, once the dust settles I'm sure directors will address them and erase any concerns they may have.

Why oh dear?

Has that been happening?

Concern amoung staff for their position is natural for any organisation under going change at the top like we are.

My "oh dear" moment was not about the staff and their jobs, moreso about the "jobs for the boys" comment which was one of my fears from day one.

I hope their "mandate" doesn't go to their heads.

Well they still haven't had the AGM yet...

the FC board has been in for a few months now and there has been minimal information relayed about their direction.

they seem to have been playing the waiting game . there is a strong feeling that 3P aligned members were waiting for the LC elections so they have unopposed power and that it why people are now frightened and the chinese whispers are intensifying.

In case you haven't realised, 3P do not control the FC board

this is absolutely no different to any organisation or company with new owners or directors, and you hear the same "lunch room discussion" what will happen to us, will we keep our jobs...etc.

and it wouldn't surprise me if this was coming from the former board to add fear and uncertainty amongst staff.

I was going to say, with a 4 4 vote the chairman and the CEO have the final say and whatever they have put forward would of been hosed down and knocked back.
