Wests Tigers CEO Shane Richardson has addressed members over reports of fractures at the joint venture as the club prepares to avoid another wooden spoon.

Wests Tigers chief executive Shane Richardson has issued a rallying call ahead of Friday night’s Spoon Bowl, insisting that the club won’t be deviated from their plans amid reports of drama in the boardroom.

“Ignore the outside noise because I can assure you this to all the members …. no one’s going to knock us off the course,” Richardson said. “We’re all on a course that we’ve committed to. Nothing will change from that. This board has been tight as a drum."

“The board has unanimously agreed on every resolution, including the budget that’s just been put in place. So please, for everybody out there, I take no notice of the scuttlebutt, except when it starts to become just silly, ridiculous. Scuttlebutt doesn’t concern me in any way, shape or form.”

Reports emerged last week that there were ructions behind the scenes at the Tigers over the slow progress of boardroom reform and talk that members of the Balmain club were becoming disillusioned with the merger. There have also been question marks over the future of interim chair Barry O’Farrell – Richardson insisted the former NSW premier was committed to the cause.

“I have no doubt also that I’ve never worked with a better chairman than Barry O’Farrell,” Richardson told the Tigers website “He is organised, he’s across the points, he understands corporate governance, he doesn’t flare up and flash up. He doesn’t want to be in front of the cameras all the time. He doesn’t want to. He actually truly believes in corporate governance and the way we’re doing things."

Take a look at some of the highlights from a few of the shining lights working their way through the Wests Tigers' pathways system towards the NRL

In terms of the delay in finalising the appointment of independent directors at the joint venture, Richardson said: ”It’s only a mechanical hold up. Is it slower than we’d like? Yes, but it’s not held up for any Machiavellian or evil way or people in the background, except for people of background who want to make it Machiavellian, to try and to try and set us off a path, which I can tell you now, they will not do under any circumstances. So we have processed 90 per cent of the report. So please everybody. That’s the truth. Very, very simple."

“I worry about the war, not the battle. The war is getting those two things in place. So sit back on Friday night. Really enjoy what you’ve done."

“It’s quite amazing. That’ll be our third sell out at Campbelltown. We’re doing a lot of exciting things for it. Sit back and enjoy yourselves. You know the plan. Nothing’s changed.”

Anyone that signs Josh Reynolds on close to $900K pa for 4 years plus Packer, Mybe & Matulino is very much part of the problem.
Correct, but you guys didn't have much on the market at the time, and your classy board let him pick and choose what he wanted to do, and basically sgned off on it, regardless but he was winning matches with that lot, no?
Tell me again is it Ivan's problem, you've signed Joe offengoae, John Bateman, and now Jack bird
Rattle up all the names you want, just remember it was good while you had him, besides I'd given him 2 more years and your club would have sacked the supercoach, just like all the others

The Ivan things been done to death. He was moving us in the right direction, then he left. End of the day he spent our next three years of salary cap and didnt see it through. Yep the board f'd up giving him complete free reign over the cap, thats totally on the club.

I think we're all over the Ivan thing now, have been for a few years. Its only Penrith fans I see bringing it up these days. I have no idea why.

Well, I didn't bold out Ivan and then rant on how he fkd the cap with players that actually worked well together for as long as Ivan was present, if you all really are over Ivan, I suggest maybe not bringing it up, I did Rattle off the coaches past, but he definitely isn't the problem there neither, neither was madge , even though he brought in joey "brainfart" leilua

You're the one who went looking for the fight and you know it. No Tigers fan has ever, ever said a coach was our sole issue. A coach can not be the right fit for the club at time and still be a decent coach. Penrith sacked Ivan. Madge is a good coach for a good team. He isnt a rebuild coach, hes a finisher. The only two coaches who have shown they are capable of the rebuild and finish are Ivan and Bellamy.

Nah it’s still a god awful deal. They’re paying him a monster salary to play a sport there is absolutely no guarantee he’ll be any good at. Also the big money is because they also want to attract league fans when in reality no gives a f**k about him leaving.

I think the roosters were paying overs for him but that doesn’t make RU paying even more overs look any better.
