IMO, this indiscretion and complete ignorance on show here is not the reason she should be stood down and relieved of all NRL/league duties - quite simply she is and has always been completely out of her depth and this incident should be merely a catalyst for her relevance to be Re-assessed. The likes of Yvonne Sampson, James Bracy and Lara Pitt all exhibit far more eloquence and overall knowledge and sensitivity of the game. There is no room for Molan in any capacity. Gender is not a factor here, just ignorance and entitlement, they are the issues, and she has them both in spades IMO.

The twelfth man was satire, and as he said, all his work with names was wordplay, and if was was a little insensitive it was still clever. From all reports the players he took the piss out of found him hilarious (the subcontinent cricketers thought it was funny for dressing room banter).

Erin was acting as a professional host and if nothing else this was pretty unprofessional, especially with the events going on around the world at the moment. As mentioned elsewhere in the thread is there really a different to this than if she had referred to an Asian player as Ching Chong Wing Wong.

Lucy Zelic copped a lot of flak during the recent football World Cup for making the effort to correctly pronounce player names from all the teams. Pretty sure Craig Foster ended up having a controlled tyrade during one evenings’ show in her defence from the abuse she was getting.

My understanding with Zelic was more that fact she would put on a fake accent to say the name, rather than that she was trying to pronounce it correctly, I agree her flak was over the top though. Considering pronouncing names correctly is big for the SBS coverage, as it was something Les Murray prided himself on.

.

12th also used the same methods for all names and wasn’t specifically denigrating one single group, remember Phil McCrackin, Chris Marajuna and Smith (I hope I spelt that correctly).

As I've been told if you want to tell someone on twitter to kill themselves, call your closest person on the planet and talk to them for 15 minutes. You're probably not going to feel that way after.
your talking about football, soccer, fans, some are complete nutjobs lunatics

With a front row of iseeyouseeyou and iseeyoutoo and wudyoulikeacuppatea at the back you cant go wrong.

Those were good times, but yeah considering making fun of a statue has gotten nrl media names punted before then surely she doesnt get something for this.

What makes it worse is that she coupd have straight out called him a merkin on air then taken a dump right there in the the floor but as soon as she gets sacked for it some feminists will immediatley jump to her defence

I cannot think of a single rugby league fan I know who likes Erin Molan. I have never taken to her work. I'd absolutely hit it....doesn't mean I want to watch her in my rugby league coverage. Nothing to do with gender at all. Sampson and Pitt are great. Even Sims who may not be the best speaker in the world is better than her as she comes across as genuine.
Some idiot at Nine sees something in her that most of Australia does not.

It’s hilarious on social media how Pacific Islanders are suddenly not so keen on free speech without consequence.

I’ve no idea how she still has a job as she’s tucking awful. If they want some representation apply the same conditions as they would for a man. None of the male commentators are there because of looks. The NRLW season is only short why not see if there’s a current player who would like a side gig for most of the men’s season?
