Yeah i did think a cup comp to decide the winner of the league is a stupid idea.
Just think about the concept, its to stupid for words. Only a tv guy could dream up such nonsense.

Everyone else thinks the payoffs are great eh? I think to find a deluded fan you need to invest in a mirror mate.

Yes Warrington can win from outside the top 4. They can win from 8th, any team can. ITS THE RULES OF THE COMP!!!! Its how we decide the league champions.
To even debate that is stupid, to say its deluded to think that a team cannot win from outside the top 4 is even more stupid than the system you seem to be denying exists.

Go to the super league website. Its on there if you don't believe me.

A 1000/1 long shot can win a horse race according to the rules. Are you a betting man? The concept of probability seems to be lost on you. So, just to clarify, to spell this out, if you will. I'm well aware the playoff system means a team low down the 8 can win the comp. I'm suggesting that the current wire team aren't good enough to. Which is why i, and probably Tony Smith would disagree with you, that regular season games are meaningless. That's not stupidity mate, its an informed opinion.

No, no, no. Just to spell it back to you, you said "If you think Wire can win from outside the top four, you are massively deluded".

I think Wire can. In fact i think they can win from 8th. Rules are rules. To think otherwise is not an informed opinion, its just wrong.

Now if you were to say, i don't think Wire WILL win from 5th, then that is an opinion. Not sure how informed it is, but thats alright.

Its a cup comp. Anything can happen, its what makes them exciting.

Its a terrible way to decide a league championship though and ultimately makes the league games meaningless (due to the massive gap between the top and bottom of the league) as its just a qualifying comp. One which all the top teams will qualify from easily.

This is fun :) Ok, for the record:-

In the highly unlikely event of Warrington Wolves foolishly adopting Wireman's deluded strategy of doing only what is necessary to finish 8th in the league, it is my opinion that Warrington WILL NOT win the grand final. This opinion is informed by the results of 14 previous years of the playoff format.

Happy with that? Or am i being stupid? :D

Well if you think its my strategy for Warrington to go out and lose games then yes. You are being stupid.

If you think a team cannot win from outside the top 4 or you think the league champions cannot be from the bottom half of the table you are again being stupid.

If you think deciding a league champion by a cup competition is in any way a good thing you are again being stupid.

About you thinking Warrington wouldn't win from 8th, thats fair enough. :D

Question for UK fans - I saw an advertisement for a website with Rugby League in it, didn't catch it again. Anyone know what it was? I'm curious.

Big match to have RL advertising on

On the ad screens at Etihad stadium, it just came up again.

It's an ad for the Magic Weekend at Etihad later on in the year, the website it's showing is www.rugbyleaguetickets.co.uk

edit: just realised i didn't mention i'm seeing the ads watching the manchester derby

Phil Bentham has just been stretchered off the field with a suspected broken ankle in the Wigan v Hull KR game. I have never seen that before!

Poor Phil, looked a nasty one.

Watching it on delay. Strange sort of game, Rovers literally did not turn up for the first 30 minutes.

Pretty clear the game being on a friday night killed the away fans attending, couldnt be more than 150 in the away end

Rovers were really disappointing and painfully slow, Wigan just looked bigger stronger and faster all over

15k+ crowd was good but I have never heard such a subdued atmosphere between 2 English teams like that before. The 200+ km trip from Hull to Wigan on a Friday night after work is a tough one too. Can't blame the lack of away support. It's hard enough to get there from Leeds on a Friday night and were 100km closer.

The game was over after 25 mins anyway. It's like Rovers didn't get off the bus. The 2nd half was more enjoyable because both teams turned up but the game was dead by then.

Hull FC v Leeds should be a good one tonight. Both teams looking good at the moment and near the top. Hulls run of losses against us has to end at somepoint, right?

Hull v Leeds was a really enjoyable game i thought, great to see Matty Russell and Ben Crooks play well and show that the way forward for English RL is NOT by signing any more Wade McKinnons.

Valid points on commentary about the fact that Hull needed to bring in Russell though. A sad indictment of their former regime under Richard Agar.

To say we lost I really enjoyed it too. Hull played the best I have seen them play for some time and were deserved winners. Its not like we didnt turn up eother! Ae did, but Hull just controled us from start to finish. A few dodgy calls by Child for both teams but I think in the end it evened itself out. Was really impressed by Crooks too. He looked like a seasoned pro out there at times and was happy for him to get a try.

I'm really enjoying the SL in general this year. There seems to be 7 teams capable of doing something this year and when any of the 7 play each other, the games seem to be very good quality.

The game down in Perp sounded a good one too! Catalan beat Hudds 27-20. It'll take a good team to go down there and win this year and they are showing why a lot of people think they have what it takes. One things for certain though, the playoffs this year should be competative from start to finish and I can't wait!

I see Paul Caddick (Leeds owner) is the second wealthiest person associated with sports in Britain at 150m. Bradford could do with a few quid, help out a close rival Paul!

Nah not having that. Most of the prem football team owners, a few union team owners, and even one or two league team owners have more than that.

Still, he could help them out. Give them the Harris money back...

I'm sure he'd be happy to do that. While he's at it, take Elliot Whitehead, Tom Burgess and John Bateman off their hands to free up some salary space.

Wakey managed to pull themselves from the brink. Just because Bradford have had more recent success doesn't mean they should get more charity in my opinion.
