It seems to me that Millward is given or takes credit for good signings but is not held accountable for those no so good or bad decisions. It it is Mary not Millward that makes decisions on recruitment/retension of players:
Why did the Board create a whole new department which reports to the CEO? Formally, when Mullholland was in the position, this activity reported directly to the head coach who always had final sign off.
The job was taken from the control of the head coach mainly because Mary was making a complete mess of it.
In my opinion both Millward and Mary are as bad as each other and both should be replaced by more professional people.
It could be the case that Mary does not like sharing the limelight with Millward and now feels he could manage the control of these activities however, there has been no public announcement changing the structure of recruitment/retention and pathways.

This has already been explained to you in a succinct manner ( more than once ) a number of months ago.

I have better things to do with my time...believe what you want.

Have a good day possm..

I doubt the right choice is between Lafai and Aitken.

A choice between Lafai and Williame and I would choose Williame.
A choice between Aitken and any other right centre in the club, I would choose any oterright centre in the club.

Yes- and the tragedy is that no specialist right centre was recruited-or retained- even to put pressure on Aitken. This is the elephant in the room omission that hopefully even the Maryphiles such as Paul Kent will see eventually was pure folly.

Exactly.

Even more astounding is the talk that we are looking for a winger for the final spot in the 30, as opposed to a half descent RIGHT CENTRE!

I’m one of Aitken’s harshest critics. IMO possibly the worst centre in the game.

On the other hand I pity the guy. I truly believe that under the right tutelage he would be a fantastic player. Whether centre, second row, whatever, he has the strength and physicality to be a threat. Unfortunately for Euan (or Gitano, whatever his name is) he has lost the development side of his career due to McGregor.

The centre 3/4 boat has sailed. His position is edge back rower now.

Yeah I agree but I’m talking realistically. There is an extremely low chance we will get Wiliame starting first game let alone Wiliame and an Aitken replacement. I’m just raising the question if there was a miracle and Wiliame was selected would you rather him partner Aitken or Lafai with the obvious caveat that I’m aware Lafai nor Wiliame are specialist right centres.

Agree.
Looking at the CC his first instincts were to pass which shows they’ve been working on it.
Unfortunately it’s about 2 seasons too late & his poor execution last week highlighted this.

A decent right centre is definitely our first priority.

Just drop Aitken to CC, he has had more than his fair share of chances to improve. Selection to the right wing is a death sentence while ever Aitken is at right centre.

But then Aitken would be blocking a youngsters such as SSE or Feagai from getting experience playing against grown men. Send Aitken to Thirroul Butchers.

Not necessarily, those youngsters could replace Aitken and if they are not up to it, play in a lower grade until they are up to it. There is also the possibility that Aitken would spit the dummy and demand a release to play in the ESL.

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away..........

Interviewer: Mary, any thought on dropping Euan to CC for a few weeks evenbto get his confidence back?
Mc85: Euey's a quality player, you know he was nearly picked for SOO 2 or 3 yrs ago!.
Interviewer: yeah, that was a fair while ago now, and he wasn't selected. It appears his form has declined somewhat rapidly since then.
Mc85: No, he's done good, did you see that move he put on Inglis, thats a quality play right there.
Interviewer: Again, that was some tine ago now.
Mc85: whilst I'm head coach, Euan will be the first player picked each week, he's a quality player dont you know. And now we have that coach from Cronulla who won a wooden spoon you know, something I've never done, giving him some passing lessons. All good mate!
Interviewer: ok then, thanks Paul, I hope it all works out for you and Euan.
Mc85: yeah!, did I tell you I was 85 minutes from a GF? Euey was in that team too!!

Yes - the infamous palm on the underdone, our-of-sorts, out-of-form & injured Inglis
... with the entourage of co*ksucking, salivating, gladhanding, backslapping Fox buffoons egging Lozza’s bestie Waterboy on to promote his suckup duplicate below-90-IQ Lovechild.

Yeah, remember the night well

Out of his league in first grade.

Rava is probably a Semi or Sivo just waiting for his inside man to be first grade quality in order to find out. Best we can hope for is Lomax to chime in down the right side and leave Euan out of it.
poor old Euan’s best defence is Friz.

Yeah I noticed that he attempted a bullet pass or two. It is encouraging that he is at least coming out of his shell and attempting it rather than the simple option of tucking it under the arm and going for the line. Problem is the execution was so off as was the decision making as both of those occasions he may have scored if he just went it alone but felt the need to put what he practiced over the off season into action. You correctly state that it probably is a bit late but if he is ever to become a top line centre and get back into origin discussion again for his sake and our sake and the sake of his next contract he needs to go and start in CC and practice it against lesser opposition to get his confidence going. He will just look rubbish in FG and probably won't even get signed by anyone but if he goes to CC and kills it, you may just have the Bellamy's of the world starting to take notice. Long story short he needs to be coached by Matt Head rather than Mary.

I don't get it!! How is it that we have a centre named Aitken who has been in the system for several years now and we are trying to work out what the best solution for him should be? Surely as a league player he would have learnt his trade well and truly by now even though we have a poor coach. What does he do on the training paddock? Just go through the drill over and over again - practise until you perfect it should be the motto. He must know that his days are numbered so to keep his place in the team, just perfect what he should have been training to do for years. No more excuses Euan!

I totally agree I'm just thinking of as many reasons as I can he deserves a stint in reserves.
