Scoffing is useless, we are ALL on ingnore

Imagine how excited the fans of the Shanghai Dragons would be to know that one of their previous favorite sons in Peter Provan, once transferred to the Tigers (now based in Malaysia) & lead that team to the greatest grand final upset of all time?!

It’s 2045. Round 28. Ninth on the ladder. the tigers are looking for their first finals berth in 34 years.
They have to beat the Singapore lions in Singapore, coach Luke brooks is confident this is the year.

tigers lose 6-4 in a try-less game

Still a better effort than their 10th place finish the previous year (2044).

Recruiting Luke Brooks as coach was a masterstroke. The place had gone backwards for a while but recruiting some personnel who understand the Tigers culture proved worth it in the end.

With the AwFuL announcing their intention to expand to Tassie, and their search for a name underay, it got my creative juices going and thought up of these. Whilst inspired by the other mob's expansion, I thought this could be a perfect Tassie RL team.... Maybe they'll play a GF against the Singapore Mer-Lions in 20-Never

Wood chopping isn’t so fondly regarded here like it used to be. :)

Some ideas for NZ-based expansion clubs...

I think a 2nd NZ club from the South Island (Based in Christchurch, some games in Dunedin, Nelson or Invercargill) could be called the Keas - named after the alpine parrot. In provincial league here, the Canterbury (Christchurch) team has been named the Bulls, but I think something different would encompass the whole south better.

Wellington-based team would probably be the Orcas.

Another possibility is a Waikato/Bay of Plenty club (most games in Hamilton, some in Rotorua).. not sure that a good name would be - teams from that region have used the names Cougars & Stallions in the national championship in the past, but those are a bit rubbish for NRL. Given that dairy farming is big in the Waikato, I'd say the Bulls name would go well there.
Taniwha (Māori mythological monsters, kinda equivalent to a bunyip I guess) for a Waikato/BoP team, as that area has the highest proportion or Māori population of anywhere that could likely get a side. (No “s” on the end, Māori words don’t use an s for plurals)

If they can get it past the Northland rugby union, yeah - definitely a contender for that team's name.

In a very best case scenario for NZ, I can see 4 teams.

Auckland Warriors

Waikato Taniwha (sure beats the Cougars name the Provincial side use!)

Wellington Cyclones (or Orcas, if they want to use the Provincial name)

Christchurch or South Island Kea (far better than the Bulls name that Canterbury province use IMO)

Serious name suggestions that have been thrown around recently:

Adelaide Ravens
Adelaide Shrikes
Adelaide Falcons
Adelaide Wombats
Adelaide Blues

Some less serious:

Adelaide Pandas
Adelaide Magpies (If Wests Tigers split up and one side relocates) or Adelaide Tigers

Something tells me that the Crows, 36ers, and Port wouldn't be too happy about those. In fact I guarantee that you'd end up in court if you tried any of them.

There's no chance that the NRL would allow Blues either.

The Rams could make a comeback but I doubt it.

We have a hunch that it'll be a bird mascot as with most South Australian sporting teams.
