Ok then let's do the most logical thing and eliminate the sharks and bring in wareds, ccbears and Ipswich jets. After all the cap is set so that the poorest nrl club can afford it. It's obvious who is the poorest club. So why hold the comp back? As a matter of fact let's get rid of every team and rebuild the comp with a criteria. Let's just see how many other teams actually add to the comp. We keep hearing how the ccbears add little.. What do the cssharks or mwseaeagles or even easts add?

Let's take a guess...They are already there :sarcasm:

And your not !

Exactly. So the standards of what a team can bring into the comp have already been set by the mere existence of these 3 clubs.

Therefore dribbling on and on about TV revenue is irrelevant. Because neither of these 3 clubs would add much except the odd finals game and the odd (nothing else on TV except a Sharks/Sea Eagles game but hey it's still rugby league so let's watch it anyways).

THEREFORE, criticism over what the CCBEARS would bring is irrelevant. We'll bring people, butts on seats, sponsors, TV revenue regardless, state of the art RL facilities and plans that show club self sustainability is easy and that all clubs SHOULD stop asking for handouts and rely on TV revenue alone.

At the end of the day all this TV revenue gets pumped predominately back into struggling clubs (who are struggling through their own mismanagement). The CCBEARS don't need to save any other clubs, hell no one wanted to save us. The CCBEARS are more concerned about the area they represent rather then how much extra $$ can we make to help out Sydney teams that never helped us.

BUT whats ironic is clubs are looking at WAReds & Ipswich as money sources via TV revenue. When most of that money will be pumped back into those bids to ensure their short term survival. Yet the CCBEARS, who will make the same $$revenue as the JETS regardless, due to their business plan all that TV revenue doesn't need to be pumped back into the CCBEARS to prop us up. Instead it can and will be pumped back into the weak Sydney clubs.

As it's been stated, the CCBEARS will help out other Sydney clubs more so then any other bid. However in saying that, the CCBEARS can stand on their own feet without the need for handouts. No one loses, regardless of the lack of foresight by some individuals.

And they will some day. They haven't even been granted a franchise yet.

How many members do the Roosters have after 100 years?

Has the Roosters been pushing for financail members since 1908? wow they were before their time!!!!

How do you know that? Did you ask everyone in Brisbane?

How did i know there are large supporters groups of Sydney teams based in Brisbane? is that the question you are seriously asking me? my god Fiona

Apart from it being common knowledge that the Dragons, Bulldogs and Manly are well supported teams in Brisbane there are actually SUPPORTER GROUPS in brisbane. Not just people that watch the games. I was privileged enough to join the bulldogs supporters in Brisbane (not the traveling supporters, a groups of Brisbane based supporters). Now the dogs have that indeed and the Dragons are far more supported in Brisbane then the Dogs, they'll definitely have one (they even have a Melbourne one).

You would have to be completely ignorant about Rugby League in Brisbane to challenge what supporter groups are up there for teams outside of the Broncos.

Seeming as though they're population is SO big it would be impossible to ask them all but i did ask quite a few of them and that is a better gauge then your logic of because Brisbane has large supporter bases for Bulldogs, Dragons an Sea Eagles the same must be said for the Central Coast. That logic is insulting to community individuality, but you don't care whatever just change everything to suit your ideology viewpoint.[/Q

That's what you're doing.

Nope, i am talking information as it is, serial information and turning into something that would work in the 'real world'.

That sounds like wishful thinking to me.

If you're telling me that Queenslanders would not support a fourth QLD team you've got rocks in your head.

But it's not a 4th Queensland team that can produce support and talent from anywhere, its not even a third South East Queensland team that can do that, It's not even a 2nd brisbane team that can do that.

It's currently the Ipswich Jets and nothing else. Dangerous business move. I support a 2nd Brisbane team, not Ipswich and not at the wrong time.

I find it funny people are advocating the push for Ipswich. it is obvious they are not ready. What do we gain from having a basket case franchise in Ipswich?

If anything it has to be a second team based in Brisbane (but we all know broncs don't want this). The bottom line is there won't be a second team in SE QLD in 2013.

Unfortunately what would be great is different to reality. Personally I think that a second brissy team is a must, but I am happy to wait. The time frame is not as important, other areas are far more advanced with their bids.

The sooner people realise this and accept it the better, or they can delay the dissapointment via biased ignorance if they must.

Agreed, unfortunately its far too much logic for some posters.

Let go of the straws!

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

I can't believe this sequence.

First quote contains fact, insight to the working of bids and the NRL, clear understanding of current NRL situation, harsh reality.

Second quotes contains slightly insulting comment that makes it easy to brush away a strong argument that the poster has no answer for. Also contains a little piece on irony, while he is accusing someone else of doing, he is obviously doing what he has accused another of doing in the same sentence.

Unfortunately Dragon Slayer, IMO the only 2 bids that appear to be even close to ready are the CC & Perth.

Every point you make is valid, SE & Central QLD, NZ, are just not ready & I cant see them being ready in 2013. How in the hell are they going to have everything they need (Sponsors, field, training facilities, clubhouse etc etc the list is endless) and be ready to roll in 24months ??

They are yet to even interact & engage with their communities re: NRL bid process.

exactly. 2013 is only 2 years away

while I'm not saying it's impossible, there's a hell of a lot of catching-up to be done for any Queensland-based bid.

We really don't want a rushed, half-baked, last minute bid.. Do we?

If the NRL are smart, they will add more incentives for Sydney-based NRL teams to take home games out to places that may bid in the next phase of expansion.. and keep the joint-venture/relocation option on the table.

Alot depends on the TV deal If they are selling an extra game a week from 2013 then obviously they need two teams ready to go for kick off 2013. If they don't sell this as an incentive and get the $'s they want regardless of an extra game then they have the flexibility to delay expansion or to bring one team in 2013 and another later when they are ready. Bears will be no doub hoping that they need two developed teams for 2013. Ipswich no doubt hoping that they can be admitted later.

I am guessing that to expand by two teams it will cost the NRL somewhere in the region fo $15million a year (depending on what the club grant goes up to in the new deal and if they support the WARL to grow the game in WA beyond just the Reds)

Is it really obvious?

Is the same team the poorest every year?

Do some of these poor Clubs have definate business plans to become one of the richer Clubs?

Should the NRL trust a Club that went broke before?

Would a Central Coast bid have more backing and support from the NRL if it was not part of a back door bid to get the North Sydney Bears back in the NRL?

Yes interesting questions and I'm sure alot of biased answers to go with them.

One thing you have to realise is that you are trying to join the party. We are already at the party. If you want to join our clique you have to show how you would be an asset to us. Why would we let in a Club that is going to steal some of our pie and chase our players. But I wouldn't mind letting a team in who is going to add to the pie (T.V. Money). Bad mouthing existing teams doesn't get you any votes. Bullying the NRL isn't going to get you any votes. If you are so financially secure how about putting in your proposal that you won't want any T.V revenue. After all the Central Coast Bears can walk on water can't they?

You agreed with one post, where he was defending his club.

Hardly a way to push for another teams inclusion to the RL based on merit.

I don't get why you are so anti CC, did mum run away with a fella up there ?

Coming from a unbiased perspective (I have no attachment to any of the bids). My priority is what is best for the game (covering all aspects).

Based on merit covering all aspects CC s in the best position of all prospective bids, even a moron should be able to see this.

Yes, the same clubs are generally the poorest year in, year out. All are due to their own mismanagement. When you fix up the top, generally speaking it'll flow into all the other sections of club operations. The Sharks for example have fixed up many of their problems and the land redevelopment is finally moving forward which will ease pressures.

The Central Coast Bears never went broke. If fact, neither did the North Sydney Bears. The fact remains we poured money into Bluetongue Stadium (much like the Sharks are pouring money into their land redevelopment). Bad weather conspired against completion and the Bears fell just short of playing a game at Bluetongue. Merger happened. That aside, the Bears still have rights and shares for Bluetongue. The Stadium still gets used regularly and Norths Leagues are fundamentally two clubs now with the amalgamation with Tweed Seagulls.

Regardless, the Central Coast receive ample more resources, funding and sponsorships with the Bears brand backing. North Sydney are featured through the colours and the brand but Norths Leagues are just a sponsor. The Central Coast Bears are a completely different entity all together. Based, located and centralized on the central coast. The war chest that the Central Coast Bears are building will cover all our operations. With a start of the art sports center in the pipeline, alongside community ownership/private ownership, an array of different sponsors and memberships and revenue from an extra TV game will add revenue into our club and into rugby league in general. The Bears brand has brought in existing fans, disenchanted fans and now through the membership drives which are held weekly, we have brought in the central coast locals as fans and members. The sponsors also identify with the Bears brand and the local business sectors are also behind us. That's all due to hard work put in through community initiatives and programs involving junior clubs, community festivals and charity work on the coast.

I decided to take a look at all the information available of the 4 bids, Ipswich, Central QLD, WA Reds, and CC. I’ll pace the most relevant links I could find to each of the bids. I implore you (for the sake of our game) to look at all of them and without bias decide which two are in the best position for admission in 2013.

Ipswich – No official bid site.

Central QLD – Official site http://www.cqnrlbid.com.au/

A bid booklet is available to download off their site. http://www.cqnrlbid.com.au/wp-content/uploads/CQ NRL Bid Booklet.pdf
Plenty of information on corporate support, bid team, memberships available to purchase, stadium etc. Looks like they really have the community involved. (eg regional sport academy based in Rockhampton) They are even selling merchandise online.

WA Reds – Official site http://www.waredsrugbyleague.com.au/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=122&Itemid=215

Plenty of corporate support. Memberships available to purchase. They already have a feeder teams playing in SG Ball. The WA RL competition seems to be thriving. I have to say not as much information available. Unable to find stadium info (upgrade needed etc)

http://www.foxsports.com.au/league/...join-competition/story-e6frf3ou-1225973369004

One huge advantage is WA Reds have received a unanimous endorsement from the 16 NRL clubs to join the competition in 2013.

Central Coast – Official site - http://www.centralcoastbears.com.au/index.html

Plenty of available information, from bid team, memberships for sale and current numbers, stadium. Merchandise available. Appears to be an abundance of community involvement.

Johnsy,

I have no doubt that the Central Coast bid has the most runs on the board at present. They have done an incredible amount of work no doubt.

However whether it will be the best strategic bid for the NRL when/if a decision is made is another matter.

If the Central Coast bid gets knocked back what would happen?

Would Rugby move in? No. They went for the state option in the Melbourne Rebels.

Would AFL move in? No. They have gone to GWS for a second Sydney team and expanded into the Gold Coast.

Would Soccer move in? Yes they already have. Big woop! Give it a few more seasons and the A league will be a basket case. Reason being? Too much expansion for the sake of expansion. The crowds have trended down every year since it started. FACT!

So what about the Central Coast League supporters? Well I bet they currently support a footy team already. If not Newcastle are just up the road! The Bears supporters? Well they can go into hibernation for 100 years!!

There are much more important frontiers the league must explore in the future other than the Central Coast.

That's why I said all aspects. I cannot see Ipswich as a valid option at this point. Their bid (or lack of it) is nothing short of laughable. 2 years is not a long time to get a franchise ready to go in the NRL. Gold Coast Titans is no different to the CC scenario you paint (except for AFL's presence), afterall they had the Broncos and 100% of league fans would have supported an existing club.

I honestly believe that the CC/WA Reds is a done deal. Wether that is the best option for our game, well only time will tell.

He agrees to anything that is pro ipswich. If you put together every post that he was quoted or referred to with remarks along the line of "great post" and the like, you will see contradictions. He doesn't have an argument or an opinion as to why Ipswich deserves a team more, he'd rather just argue with anybody and everybody else's arguments despite those arguments having contradictions when put together.

Would AFL move in? No. They have gone to GWS for a second Sydney team and expanded into the Gold Coast.

For the fifth time:

The AFL's GWS team is targeting North Sydney hills district right up to the Central Coast for juniors as there is not enough juniors in Western Sydney let alone The greater western Sydney to support a team.

When are people going to learn that the GWS team is not locations in the area determined only by the AFL as "Greater Western Sydney".
