We get rid of the cap we will be f**ked sooner, hopefully we get what RL is worth in the next TV deal and that will take pressure of clubs and we will be able to raise the cap.

I totally agree with this. Have a look at our juniors we have lost because of the cap.

However, looking at it, do you think that a lot of the "higher end" prices for players we see now are a result of the over price payments to the Storm Players?

SCoops
Yes have inflated the market for sure. You can blame the player managers more than the players, i bet a lot offers don't even get seen by the players but are just knocked back by the managers.
Yes the need to do whats best for the player and get him the best deal but if the player really wants to stay at a certain club they'll take the bext offer the club has to stay not try and screw them for money or go running to rugby/AFL to get a quote of what their worth there. It should not make any differance what they are worth in other codes if they want to play other codes they can but if the want to play rugby league in australia this is all that there money wise, take it or leave it.
the cap will increase but can't until a new tv deal is signed and News Ltd leave the game.

Provided there is still a team in melbourne we should get a massive pay day for the new tv rights.

Why was the NRL's auditors not expecting something like this to happen. How come they couldn't catch them for 5 years.
why is there any ongoing crime in the world? - cos the legal systems require proof to be found guilty of anything .... no difference here

i don't really get this arguement that much - i obviously don't understand how many viewers there are in victoria ..... cos i would think there's hardly any audience in victoria, so how can it pump up the tv rights so much? :-s .... ch 9 barely shows any league before the graveyard shift - and i doubt too many victorians watch the league (just like not a whole lot of nsw/qld viewers watch the afl)

Victoria is the 2nd biggest tv market, do you think that who ever gets the rights 2013 onwards will be allowed to show it at 1am etc like now?
It will be in the contact that they have to show earlier. What chance have victorians got of getting into NRL now if they don't have paytv?
I seem to think ch9 is trying to make it rate bad in victoria to reduce the cost of the rights to make it cheaper for them to get as they will have a bidding war on thier hands unlike last time where it seemed nobody wanted it.

he is mostly right though and the nrl bosses are to stubborn and proud to do anything to improve the game. the cap needs to be increased some how to keep the tallant in the nrl and stop this from happenning again

Gould: "They became champions; not once, not twice, but thrice. They became world club champions on two occasions, if you please, effectively promoting the Melbourne Storm brand to all corners of the sporting globe."

They did this by f@#$ing cheating you f@#$ing gay half-wit!

He said the same thing to David Gaalop on the Sunday Footy show.](*,)

Jesus, Gould talks feces. I don't remember him ever raising an issue over Melbourne's salary cap. He was constantly praising their administration. However, now that these revelations have come to light, Gould claims that everyone knew except David Gallop. Phil Gould is a muppet with an agenda against the NRL.

100% Bro. Gould has a habit of going on and on about a subject. I cant EVER remember him going on about the Storm. I, like most others assumed the club was very tight.

I think Gould is an undercover agent for the AFL. He does nothing good for Rugby League.

yeah but if it had of been the Roosters they beat in GF in 2007 or 2009 do you think he would have the same stance?
The only thing i agree with is that there should some exclusion for talent you brought thru the ranks maybe only 50% of thier salary counts towards and maybe it's capped at 4 players or something like that.

Agreed. I hope they can find a solution for this conundrum.

how fair is it for their players to be sacked in the middle of the season when everyone else has already spent their cap for the year? they would be forced to play in england or union i agree its unfair on the fans but to be honest i really dont give a flying f*ck what happens to the storm or their players this year the worse it gets for them the less likely it is that other clubs will cheat the cap

p.s. when i said they made their bed i was talking about the club i know if the players and coach are innocent its very hard on them but lets look at the flipside they won the premiership twice by cheating in my mind no punishment is too harsh for that

lol I never said anything about them not being paid for an inactive season.

Its been explained in the media enough: There were two sets of books. One for the Auditors and board, and a second secret one detailing payments above the cap etc.

Unless someone on the inside talks (which is what happened), I reckon it would be extremely hard to discover.

Phil, I value your assessment of the game in general but you sounded like a donkey in the interview.
Good On David Gallop for his stance.
