I figured that but maybe more than 15,000 would have turned up with a better marketing campaign.
I read somewhere that they had a lot more registered but due to the poor weather the numbers were down.

Thats a shame, you actually missed a great day.
It only rained for about 40mins and most of the stuff was inside the ring and undercover or in big merchandise tents etc

would be interesting to hear the response.
Im sure the silence will be deafening and if they do respond it will be with contempt again towards the fans by probably covering up for these so called professionals.

Thats Erics excuse and it will pass. I can imagine all the other clubs being pissed off with half of their players being unavailable for round one because Eric Grothe sneezed during the photo shoot. Ben Smith might get away with it because of his knee but I believe Timmy had a shoulder recon, hardly an excuse. Id like to know what Lukes was because he is usually good with the fans.

I doubt the club will aknowledge anything. Just wait for it to blow over.
I agree in regards to Burt he has always been very approachable in my opinion, so this did appear out of character for him, maybe he had a legit excuse, we will probably never know.

I'd like an official statement from the club for the reason for the absence of those 4 players from the photo.
Im sorry but getting over pneumonia, or recovering from off season surgery would be a pathetic excuse considering that they WERE THERE for the individual team photos prior to the gates opening for fans.. surely they could have hung around for the main one.
I dont think I want a copy of it without those 4 players completing the most historical picture in Rugby League history to date.

I am so sick of our players not giving a f**k about their fans, who they hell are they without us????????... they escape out side-doors after games leaving kids waiting for autographs and photos, they don't turn up in full to organised events and those that are there think it is a freakin funny game to piss off early...seriously they sneak off and they do so knowingly.
Then there is the club.... they organise sh*t all for us throughout the season and then this year we get a massive kick in the guts by not having a fan day prior to season opening.
NOTE TO EELS OFFICE - Player recovery sessions DO NOT TAKE PLACE AT THE ROSE AND CROWN. So stop feeding us that piss poor reason when we ask why there are no after match functions. We are not idiots.
The NRL day was a poor showing and lack of interest by our club and most of the players, the kids up in the arts/crafts were so upset they werent going to see their heroes thta they had waited for. Id also like an official statement from the club on why the hell everyone else knew they had to be there but they didn't.

I am ashamed of our club.
Ditto, some of them really do sound like a bunch of wankers, as fans though what can we do in unison, other than send emails, I dont believe they would make much of a difference, though a start I guess, really dissapointed that they were so poor on the most important day of the codes history and being a fan day they really let us know what they think of us.

From the NRL forum........
This is f**king criminal if this is the best they could come up with, I truly am shocked, everyone stop subscribing to their money spinning Parra tv they don't deserve our cash, this is why they are such "little darlings" when the cameras are around though I think we know the truth now.

Pissweak, goes back to the top, Oh wait that's right? longest serving cheif executive in the league blah blah i await, the moron cannot even organise a fan day properly, he's useless.
No arguments here, but remember Ron that some people don't measure success by premierships, pardon my naivety but how the f**k do you measure success at a sporting club?, why even have a season?:?

Well we're hardly making a profit it seems on both the leagues club and football club, place all our emphasis on pokie machines instead of finding other avenues or introduce new inatives for increased revenue. We have a massive junior base so hence why we're always competitive in the junior ranks. We f**k up fan days, have one of the lowest sponserships in the NRL, declining home crowd averages thanks to a masterful plan to reduce our stadiums capacity ( lol at the BS excuse for that), tell every man and his dog that games are sell outs yet crowds of 19,000 are posted, have DF coming out and disrespecting our former great players and not involving them in anyway with our club, not even bar work, or what about autograph sessions after the games? nah the players need to 'warm down' more like warm up at the crown and rose, those 'warm downs get finished mighty quickly as when i've ventured over after the game some of the players are already there!

Well if we were to measure success on what i've written? we're f**king hideous and attrocious at runing a football club. But hey DF is the longest serving CE in the game:roll: he must be great lol. The only reason why he's the longest is that no one has really ever challenged him, he has the same cronies by his side eg Ron Hiltich aka Supercoach and Overton. I'd love to see Price, Sterlo etc try and do something here, could it be done?

lol i hate some of the attitudes on this board, a real looses mentality, they are kinda like your parents saying to you when you were younger before a sporting contest that ' it doesn't matter if you win or loose aslong as you have a good time and enjoy yourself' i bet this is Dennis' mission statement, plastered on his office wall next to his pic of Ray Hadley and an old 7's trophy, and you wonder why we haven't won a premiership? Dennis is simply a looser, i don't mean that in a bad way? but he is! he's happy with medocrity aslong as anything slashes costs he'll be happy, funny though that he cannot even negotiate better sponsership deals or find anything but pokies to balme for Parra's potential decline in revenue.

Apart from Parra TV it has been well documented that our marketing department is/was rooted, and what about good ol Damien Kelly:lol:, however maybe someone had something to do with that? so i'll let that slide after all budget cuts and slashing costs wouldn't have helped Damian, but all is good, i'm sure Dennis would've been scouting the local tafes around and found a couple of promosing candidates who are hoping to finish the Cert IV in marketing reasonably soon, go get em Dennis!! before they're snapped up by Woolworths check-out managers!

IMO if i were runing the club? i'd be making an offer to Wayne Bennett, that's just me though, and sure Hagan has done a great job and still under contract, but the influence on our organisation would be amazing. And if Hagan hasn't done anything worthwhile by the end of his 3 years you watch DF rush to his side and sign him for 5 years.

Our club has never really been proactive, we're content with just stability rather then being more stragically orientated. Yeah sure we've had some moments, apart from pulling out a fake dog tud and plastic vommit out his bag of tricks, Dennis has done some things like ParraTV and ummmmm Eels on Wheels? lol and even that apparently has stopped.

Who remembers Dennis wanting to make a mothers day game an annual even at Parramatta stadium? well Dennis here's a tip, if you're that worried about making a profit, do not have games on Mothers day, if the first 3 times didn't produce anything over 9,000 people i'm sure it wont in the future lol

Possibly the stupidest idea i've ever heard! next he'll propose a game on Christmas day.

Anyway that's all i'll say.

It's ok to have a contructive rant every now and then.
I think it's good that we can speak our mind and you may be surprised just how many people will most likely agree with you on this.

In all respect, Ron is pretty much on the right track. Do we hear other clubs whinging about Pokie Tax as much as Dennis does?

Do other clubs have better membership/customer focus then Parra? Dam straight they do.
