Enough whinging ffs

Oh Mick, this day is worth whinging about. Not so much towards the players, as I really felt for them sitting in that heat for so long, not allowed to get up and move. A couple of them had to get up from their seats and do some back stretches you could see them getting stiff. But the organisation of today was sh*thouse! Timing all wrong. Set up all wrong.

by al sounds of it it couldve been organised alot better with players being able to meet and greet fans but this unfortunately wasnt to be. in the pics the players look like theyre on a 'mission' with the signing of things so excuse them for that i mean the fans obviously waited ages and they were probably trying to get through as many people as possible.

wow, nearly 2 hours with them inside a vip area?

tbh these things would be hard to organise and keep everyone happy

My major issue was not with the players at all. They did what they were there to do and it seemed were given strict instructions about what to do and when to do it. My issue was mostly the organisation which the players and coaching staff wouldn't have had anything to do with.

I'm interested to know what time the signing session stopped.
I didn't queue because when I got there, it was under the railway bridge and down the street adjacent to Westfields.
I thought it was best for Jumpsuit to enjoy the day rather than stand in a queue.

As it turns out, I think I made the right decision.
At 2.15, I went and checked the queue again, and it was as long as it was before. I bumped into someone I knew who had joined it at 12.20, and he was still at least 30 metres away erom the signing table. I'll find out on Wednesday night whether he ever made it.

Someone mentioned before that maybe the signing table isn't the way to go.
I tend to think that's true.
TBH, I'm not sure what the answer is as EVERYONE WANTS AUTOGRAPHS, but there must be a better way than what currently happens.

I wonder how many memberships were sold today? The couple of times I walked past the tent, there were people signing forms.
I also heard Burty asking people whether they were members, and noticed membership booklets on the players signing table.. Good stuff.

All in all, I think today wasn't too bad. Wrong location though and I can understand why with the works going on in the stadium car park this year. Hopefully it returns there next year.
I appreciated the heavily subsidised soft drinks and sausages in a roll.
I appreciated the efforts made by Dani Sammuels, Vic Darchinyian, Danny Green, Nathan Bracken and that tosser with the curly hair who runs hurdles. Didn't see the Aussie Idol dude either.
Congrats to Fui for the presentation of the LU award, although it would have been nice if he had at least said thanks, instead of appearing so dismissive.

Jumpsuit had a great time, even though he walked away sad about not getting any autographs.
His time will come, as I explained to him.

Oakey told me that they got up and walked the line just after 3. He said they were finished by about 3.30.

They were getting back on track last year. An hour of players mingling, then over to the signing table. That did mean players were told to refuse autographs til they were at the table, which did come across as rude, but at least people did get to actually talk to them or have photos etc. Not just rush along a table like a line of cattle.

I have to agree Nikki, last years was the best they have had for a long time. I didn't mind getting told i couldn't get anything signed while they were mingling, at least you had a choice. you could line up for the autographs or mingle and get some photos, if you were lucky you may have been able to do both. But today unless you were a VIP, bad luck.

People want things signed.

The problem is if they dont use a formal thing like the signing table, and the players just mingle and sign stuff get photos etc, then it's basically adults/teens that get stuff and the shy kids hanging on the edge of the crowd get nothing.

I dont have it.

As long as I can remember, people have always had issues with the organisation of our 'fan' events. What pleases one may not please another.

Maybe, the answer is not to have one? That seemed to work well that year

Thats why I think the half/half thing kinda works. Those that know they want signatures can get their spot in the line while the players are doing other things. Some people just want photos for their Facebook page. They can have that done while they mingle and not hold up the players once they hit the tables. OR, have the players more accessible for autographs during the year and the novelty will wear off. We need the wooden spoon. Then there will be no crowds!
