Fantasy Leagues

The Virtualsports comp last year is the same one that ran at Sportal in 2007. I didn't mind it, but the trick was to load your forwards with centres/wingers. The Tele comp went the other way, you got better scores if you loaded your backline with front/second rowers. I joined up to both comps last year, lost interest after the 1st round.

The comp that Sportal ran last year was one of the worst loads of tripe I've ever seen, so I think I'll stick with the Fox Sports competition again this year. Something I liked about it is that there was no limit to the number of teams in your personal league, so you could effectively have everyone here who wanted to join a league in the one competition

VNRL the original by Chris was sensational.. They were close to kickin it off last year but more issues arose and it got pulled at the last bit. Shame.

For me the key aspect of a fantasy comp is that no other team can have the same player as you hence why I think all that sportal, fox, teli comps are just sh*thouse.

e-footy.com was a side comp I found last year. Exclusive players but unfortunately no cap.

Not sure about nearlynrl..

Or you can run your own via excel if you're with a bunch of people that you know and are ok with some little bit work each week. We have a feature on our persoinal one where you can resign up to 12 players each year, salary cap permitting so you work towards the future at the same time as playing for the present.

It may be an easier solution to just use the numbers until we find out how many teams per comp. Whatever the number of teams allowed, obviously the next person will be the 1st in the 2nd/3rd comps.

I'm in fo' sho'.

It's either virtual RL or actual work.

No pause for thought.

I was in Fox Sports last year, didn't think it was that good. Had to pick a coach?!? I've heard the telecrap is better. But I'm easy, just like Souths.

I play a lot of fantasy games but have love any of the Rugby League ones. I've done pretty well in most of them..

My tip for most of these (where a salary cap is in place) is that I always have 3-6 players that I will buy and then I will build a team around these guys. After I have bought the guys I know will do well then I'll go and find the bargain buys. Especially a guy who was injured most of last season will usually be low in value the season after (and probably undervalued). Some comps will start a player's value at the lowest point if he is new or been injured. Ellis from the Tigers could be one to watch where tackles/hitups count. If you get 2pts for a players "real" side winning on the weekend then I will usually try and get my front rowers from the sides that generally do well as front rowers don't score that many tries as it is.

We did Nearly NRL at another forum (which a mate and I paid for) as it was the only way we could get everyone into the same comp. That one, along with Virtual NRL, are the two better ones out there. Virtual Sports do one as well which is pretty good. The NRL do a good one where tackles/hitups/try assists etc are worth points so guys like Laffranchi, Hindy etc generally do well. Nathan Friend was a big one last year as well as Terry Campese (once he started kicking goals).

Not sure about nearlynrl..

Nearly NRL and Virtual NRL play under the same principles (well just about). They have "dominant halves" where if your half or 5/8th is in one of the top 3 players of the game they get a dominant half try which is worth 4 pts (like a forward or dominant try). Was some conjecture last year about awarding the forward tries and they got abused because of it

Count me in....which one are we going to use ?

Mate I'm not sure yet, I suppose it will be by concensus. Personally I prefer an auction system, whereby one player can only play for one side. But we'll see how we go, hopefully there will be a good free comp we can set up a few private comps.
