I can't believe this day has already come, but I am so happy that he got the send-off he deserved.

I can't wait to get to the leagues club in around an hour - seeing him with the trophy and all the fans is going to be such a special moment for me, and for everyone there.

I really hope he stays in the game in some capacity. He is just such a professional and down to earth man... tireless work ethic and a true gentleman of the game.

For all the tough stuff he did, I can't recall him ever throwing a punch or lashing out in bad sportsmanship. The NRL will miss him.

Oh he's been involved in a couple, but you know what I mean - he pretty much kept his aggressiveness legal.

And he's definitely not a fighter!

Ditto Petero.

I've always hated Brisbane in the past but found myself cheering them on last night just so Webcke could get his deserved send-off. Good on Lockyer getting him up there to lift the trophy too

What a true legend of the game. I can't think of anyone who deserved a fairytale ending more than him.

Absolute champion of a player.
I would like to see him calling games on Ch9.
A smart fella who still has plenty to offer our game!

He is going to be very hard to replace for Brisbane. Those last few hit ups he made were as solid as you will see.

Anyone notice him during the National Anthem last night?

He said during the interview that aired before the game that he was dedicating the GF to his late father.

Then during the Anthem, while everyone else was standing there vacantly staring straight ahead and mumbling the words, Webcke took a quick glance skyward.

It was enough to make my missus change allegiances for the night! She started cheering for the Broncos after that, just for his sake.

All the best for your future Shane.

An absolute Gentleman, and a true Legend. The word Great is bandied around far too much these days, but Shane definitely deserves to be called Great.

Well done Big fella, enjoy retirement.

Well I'm a Storm fan but the only saving grace to Sunday's defeat was that Webcke left the game a winner.

Champion player, and seemingly a good guy off the pitch too. Can anyone who has met him vouch for that?

I've only spoken to him on maybe half a dozen quick occassions - I don't really like 'annoying' the players or getting in their faces too much, but it's generally just been after a match saying 'well played mate' and shaking his hand.

Absolute champion of a bloke off the field. Seems really sincere, always up for a shake of the hand and always has time for the fans. While I just like to leave them alone on most occassions back at the club, I'll often look over to where he is and see him spending a LOT of his time signing autographs, chatting, and posing for photos with fans and young kids for AGES. He could be off partying with the boys, but he always seemed to put the fans first.

A real gentleman - who also does a lot for junior footy. He actually pumps a LOT of his own money into a couple of junior RL clubs around Brisbane, and Channel Ten did a big story on it a few months back. They approached him about saying something in the story, and once he heard what it was about he refused - just said that he didn't want any accolades because he felt he should give back something to the game that had given him everything.

It was extremely emotional to see him with the trophy and hear him talk to the crowd back at the club yesterday - he will be sorely missed.

I think he's one of the true champions of Rugby League, not just on the field but off the field as well. He's one of most couragous players to ever play the game, he puts in 100%, never wants to take a rest, lifts the team whenever its down. Ive never forget the 2000 Semi against us, with a broken arm. He was in pain, you could see it in the face, but he still managed to play the rest of the game and tackle his way through. I mean thats a lot of guts. Im sure QLD supporters missed him when he gave Origin away after 2004, his performances can never be forgotten. He never let the Australian jersey, played his absolute best against the Kiwis and Poms.

Also off the field he's a gentleman, he's got great respect to the public, he speaks well. His family comes first as well, I had a lot of respect for Webcke when he pulled out of the 2001 Kangaroo Tour for safety reasons. I mean he gained a lot of young supporters as well as female supporters, it just shows how good Shane Webcke is. I think the game needs more like him. Congratulations to Webcke on his last game winning a premiership It couldntve gone to a better bloke. He played well in his last game, taking up doing his usual best. I hope he gets a job in the media/TV cause I reckon he'll do well.

Well done Shane.
