I wish the guys the best, and I'm sure they'll turn into superstars as so many do when they leave us...but honestly, Mateo especially has shown nothing to suggest he'll live up to his potential at Parramatta and Inu isn't worth what the Warriors reportedly offered him, so I can't say I'm overly upset. Horo and Wright are much better value for very similar contributions to what these two have been giving us.

Both haven't kicked on as much as I expected. There is no way I would pay more then $250K for Mateo and $180K for Inu.

Cronk and Hodkinson would be my picks to replace them. I however have a feeling that we will sign O'Donnell. People putting sh*t on Poore have no idea.

Could not agree more with you on this one. In light of the drama with the Storm, we cannot keep every player in our squad, and have to rely on developing other kids and signing cheaper players to balance and fill out the squad. Inu never played to the level befitting his contract, and Mateo did not kick on like he could have, and is not worth the $300k plus he is reportedly going to the warriors for.

We have a solid core in our 1,7,9, hopefully with Kris Keating resigning. Lets hope we bring some more forwards in, and that some kids can come through to fill out the backline.

PS - even if Mateo and Inu had a $50-100k dispensation, would we pay Inu 180k (280k with dispensation) or Mateo $250k ($350K with dispensation) and not lose all salary cap flexibility???

I honestly think Inu was never going to fulfil his potential at Parra - you see it with other players changing clubs. The clearest example for me is Bronson Harrison - one of the 'Baby Tigers' in 2005, he was washed up there after 2 seasons, and went to Canberra on his last contract - he is now arguably their best forward and a New Zealand International.

I wish them both the best - just a case of not enough money and possibly best for both the Eels and the players to try something different.

well, 1 yes, 7 still yet to be consistent and 9 is a good goer.

Very skewed Salary wise too:

From memory:

1. 500k
7. 200k
9. 55k

Hense the use of the word 'solid' and not 'elite' or 'the NRL's best' :)

Mortimer must be given time to improve and will either be a solid fiorst grader or a star - either way, he is on young, upcoming first grader wages.

The imbalance in wages is irrelevant though.

we have them for this year!
Maybe Ohanlon will step up.The futue is Hayne-KK-Mannah-Smith-there is our core of young future players.
How many years before the next great parra kid arives? What if he is already there and they know if they keep INU and Mateo they will loose him.
We have no real worries..Mateo has set up maybe 1 try this year...

havent seen it posted yet but there is an eels reel with the guys up

http://www.parraeels.com.au/default.aspx?s=home-old

have to say, neither look particuarly happy and Inu in particular looked upset.

cant say if I was a warriors fan that'd make me feel good about the guys wanting to bust a gut....

they both look pretty gutted, cant see us getting too much out of them for the rest of the season

I can - once the sadness wears off they will focus on the last months playing for Parra. Warriors are not a great chance of making the finals, so I believe they will put in 110% and end in a good way. Whats more, players like Hayne will want to see them off in the right way - a Grand Final win.

Horo is off contract for next season, no?

Melbourne or Manly could make a play for him - cheap but has potential. Offers that we may not be able to match or willing to pay. ala T-Rex.

We've just got to go hard to retain Oake then.

Very sad to see these 2 go.

Would this affect Hayne? I've seen youtube videos of these 3 together and they seem real close.

It might not affect him this year but next year when they are not there he could become a unhappy camper.

I think we will have big problems in the halves next year if we don't get someone decent.

KK is not signed as yet and I am not sold on Mortz just yet.

An injury in the halves next year will probably see Hayne move there.
I reckon Horo will stay. They'll give him a small upgrade.

Jarryd still got Benny and TT.

And finally, you gotta trust KK & Morts (at least for 2011) assuming KK signs. As much as people would love to see a Cronk signed up (me included) that'd make signing KK & Morts a massive waste of money. They're still really young, people have got to realise it'll be awhile before they'll dominate the competition... but that doesn't mean we can't win a premiership with them ;-) massive difference between being the front runners and being the actual premiers. Just ask Saints

Good luck to Inu and Mateo next season, decent players but not keep at all cost on current form. Hopefully can send them out on a high, then look at filling the vacancies

Inu I am sad about .... but thank goodness we are not shelling out 400K to sign the Myth !!!
He will have a few great games for the warriors but will never make a representative team. I would rather we spent the money on a consistant performer.

Please Wright and INU are NO COMPARISON no matter what value.

Sometimes I wonder if people actually watch the games....... I'm sure Wright would be in high demand once he comes off contract as well. I can see them all lining up.

Very sad to see the boys go.

Will be interesting to see how things will pan out with regards to recruitment now.

I'm expecting some good signings to come our way for 2011. There is no way Ando would let these two go without a back-up plan.
