poor old Shak he plays 10 minutes and is forgotten
I didn't forget Shackleton. The only reason he would be on here would be if he had a backended contract (I can't recall him having one) or if we get dispensation for his long-term injury (I don't know)

Ouch. Some parra fans can talk these losses down as much as they like which is understandable just what all supporters do, but losing both of these at once is a massive loss. As brilliant as hayne can be it makes you wonder if he's worth the money Parra re-signed him for when stuff like this happens, only compounded by paying overs for Poore and Shackleton. of paying overs. I get the feeling these won't be the only ones on their way out either.

Has Fui oficially re-signed yet? If he hasn't i think that's at least one positive to come out of this, at least there'll be more money to keep him.

Fui has already officially resigned.

I think losing Mateo is a huge loss he has enormous potential like he showed in 08 with his great offloads and breaking the line. I really think DA didn't like Mateo just get that feeling.

If Parra wanted to sign him they could've IMO, But I don't think he was in very much favour so he wasn't priority to be signed..

If Inu goes aswell I think that will be a great loss as he has so much talent and can only get better.

well we have them for this year so who cares for now..
Ive said it before-We should not of signed poore and tahu.
Loosing shacks after 10mins so he comes in for mateo.Inu is back up to grothe.
Where is the loss? We have J.Wright and i cant think of more than 3-4 years without parra producing a gun centre/wing.
MAteo loss but shacks comes in and im sure we can now sign 2 middle class back rowers.

J. Wright IMO is very average.

Good luck them. You can't keep everyone. I'm not too worried about Inu, wingers are replaceable and he can be very inconsistent. Grothe would be a bigger loss IMO. Mateo is a big loss however, but he certainly isn't worth the 400k the Warriors are rumoured to have offered him.

Fui's tied up...and there's a general concesus out there that suggest that the players aren't exactly DA favourites and i've been told that they are freeing up alot of money..

My feeling is the offer was there to Mateo but it was probably AT BEST half of what Warriors offered him. Nothing really to do with Ando's feelings just he was unwilling to offer him anymore then what he thinks he's worth.
I think they were then biding their time with Inu. With Etu, Wright, Sio, Filiga, etc waiting in the wings (no pun intended) why bother signing Inu up for $150k+

We can win the comp and then blame the salary cap for the team breaking up.

It's the done thing.

Let me check phew the eels club is still standing while it's sad to see them go, life goes on I have the faith we can cover these 2 losses good luck to them in NZ, Mateo would have been crazy to turn the warriors price down

We're pretty blessed in the fact that we've got 6 rep players competing for 5 outside back spots. You can win the comp with an ordinary winger. If you look at the team lists their are some pretty ordinary names even the best sides. Melbourne are playing blokes called Dane Nielsen and Matthew Duffie in their back 5.

Stop wondering. Of course Hayne is worth it.

Hayne will be worth the money next contract season

2007 contract year - Hayne fired
2008 non contact year - Nothing
2009 contract year - Won the Dally M
2010 (opening 9 rounds) - Solid but not worth 500k and he wants more then goes out and does nothing in the test.

i guess it was inevitable that someone was going to lose the game of musical chairs if not mateo and inu it could be grothe and burt gone

Is this the same Matt Duffie who has scored 5 tries in his first 3 games ???

pretty disappointed to lose those 2 .... i suspect they'll be guys that we say "damn, wish we hadn't lost them" in the coming years

i don't think mateo has been anywhere near as bad as the bagging he gets on this forum (not 400K worth either, but much more than what people have been saying he's worth) .... and Inu has actually played really well in his limited chances this year (it wouldn't feel good to be made the 6th wheel in our backline)

just thinking with these guys going though its sad to see them go it opens up possibilties to pounce on some melbourne players who get released...Cronk, Tolman, Manu, Lima or even neilsen id like any of those 5 at parra i hope we could pick up cronk and tolman tbh we r fine with the backs, and seeing as keating is injured again possibly we dont know exactly how long he will be out for....morts and cronk would be great in the halves and keating off the bench with m.keating at hooker, sad to say robbo in reserves next year. this prediction is just a hope but u never know...

My point is that solid, but not spectacular wingers, are very easy to come by. There'll be someone easily able to step in and fill Inu's shoes. Won't be a superstar, but will get the job done. Look at the amount of outside backs in the NRL currently who've come through our system or made their first grade debut with us... Lyon, Tonga, Ash Graham, John and David Williams, Mogg, O'Dwyer, McKinnon and so on.
