Feleti Mateo and Krisnan Inu sign with Warriors

That post about Mateo being responsible for the loss to the Tigers is the biggest load of rubbish ever Maybe if you actually watched the game you would know. There is nothing else to say really, we brought him for an extra attacking weapon and he has done that and even more and is playing great. Sure his defense isn't excellent but it hasn't been nearly as bad as you are trying to make out. Fact of the matter is pretty much every Warriors fan is happy with how he is going and that is saying something considering there were a lot against the signing. Can't really be bothered talking about this anymore as it's pretty obvious you are happy he is gone and I'm happy he is at our club, good luck for next season.

I don't think anyone will argue that Mateo is a good player but for $400K there is no way the eels could justify his worth (if NZ can then so be it). Most eels fans are not fused that he has left, it allows a more structured attacking game.

I find the problem with Mateo (much like Sutton) is that he is not a backrower or a half, he does lack essential skills of a backrower like work ethic, fitness and defense but he makes up with it by powerful runs, good footwork and a killer offload. Mateo is a dangerous player but if he lost his gut and increased his lean muscle mass he would be the best backrower in the comp.

Honestly what more do you want us to say???? Mateo can be freakish and do anything on a football field. He is also lazy and has errors in his game. The games i have watched the Warriors this year he hasn't changed one bit, still all the talent and skill in the world and also mistakes and poor options. I mean as good as he is is he worth 400k??? Honestly???? He was kept behind Lowrie in our GF run in 09 for a reason.......

If Blair is worth 500k and Sandow 550k Mateo is worth 400k. That's just what players are earning these days. Few years time we'll have players like Hayne & Thurston on 750-800k. The first million dollar player is right around the corner.

Hayne is reportedly on 450K, Sandow on 350-400K. Considering this Mateo is not worth 400K, Cronk is said to be on 350K.

Now if you compare Mateo to the backrower, I dare say only Gallen would be on 450-500K. Guys like Thiday, Scott, Lewis and Bird would have to be on maximum 400K and these guys are rep players. While Mateo may have been you best player its that sort of coin that may stop you guys buying a genuine halfback or 5-8 etc.

We will never be able to buy a top class 5/8th or halfback, we have to pay solid overs to get players. The last thing I will say you guys either don't really watch Warriors games or really underrate him.

Fellow Parra fans, you sound like you're talking about a girlfriend who dumped you!

He's doing his job at the Warriors, and if Kearney was already in charge he'd probably still be here. End of story.

I don't think it's a matter of underrating him at all...I think, over his time at Parramatta, the shine wore off and the bad elements of his game showed through more clearly. He is as talented as any forward I've ever seen, but he is great for a brain explosion and a bad error and that hasn't changed. Personally I don't regret losing him any more than Warriors fans regret signing him

Um we dumped him.

Your comment about SK keeping him is baseless fantasy.

You saying no contract was offered to him at all? Or he chose to go elsewhere when the contract offered wasn't fitting of what he believed he deserved? Regardless its a technicality.

He's doing what he was bought to do for the Warriors, while we have 1 guy who can create anything in attack and the highest paid player in the NSW Cup.

He wanted to do more for parra but was held back by anderson.
On the contrary, Anderson used him to perfection in 2009.

Brought him off the bench when opposition defences (and attacks) were tiring, and hooked him when he did stupid things like try and throw miracle balls around the back of defenders when we were holding on to slim leads in semi-finals.

Feleti has been great for the Warriors. His style of game suits their high risk attack. So does Inu's.

Happy to see them both doing well but I don't believe they would have made much difference to our side this year, and it would have been a waste of Parra's money to match what they were signed for. And when I watch them play, as exciting as they are, it is a reminder of exactly why we let them go.

Parra and Warriors fans will be forever arguing about this though.

THIS

I think with Hayne in the team there is no room for Mateo, they both play a similar role in attack and we would have had no coin to spend on a decent halfback.

For parramatta the comparison should be Sandow v Mateo, both will have taken similar money and who will contribute more. IMO Sandow > Mateo in our team. For the Warriors they may prefer Mateo, its not a case of Mateo dumped us or vise versa. Parramatta offered Mateo what they thought he was worth to the team while the Warriors offered him what they thought he was worth to there team. At this stage both parties are happy so lets get over it.

Inu has been in good form this season as well.

Highlighted by that game where he took an intercept with a 15m start and got mowed down before the line.

Ive seen that happen too many times both at the Warriors and the Eels to say that hes in "good form".

Haha i was sitting on that end at OKI Jubilee that day and i deadset nearly made a missile of my barely opened Red Powerade...

Anderson hooked him and we ended up winning with the Gurus marvelous intercept.....

09 was a good year lol.

Yes you're completely right, that one play does ruin his whole season.....

You're pissing into the wind here Eddie. Give up trying to convince anyone here of the value in these players. Nice guys. Loads of potential. Best of luck to them. Very happy that they are at your club, not ours at the price you paid.

I like the fact the money keeps getting brought up when you paid how much for Mortimer? Uh oh. But yeah you're pretty much spot on, we're happy to have them, you guys are glad they're gone. I just thought it was funny that guy thought Inu getting mowed down meant he wasn't in good form this season.

I've said it countless times, re-signing a young kid who had been the five-eighth in a grand-final participating team to $200,000 was well worth it at the time. We would have looked like idiots if we didn't re-sign him, and its' well documented that other clubs were trying to throw money at him.
Unfortunately, we looked like idiots regardless because of his massive form slump.

Inu's in the same form he was here at Parra. Inconsistent with flashes of brilliance. He's every bit as talented an outside back as the world-class ones. I don't really know what his problem is, but whatever it is, it holds him back from fulfilling his amazing potential week in - week out.
I am of the opinion that we should never have let them go, especially when they would have stayed for much less than the Warriors were offering. As evidenced by this year, we are paying the price for our former head coach being a moron and not signing anyone to replace them.
