I had 'one of those games' last night where I had a gazillion easy shots at goal, mostly 1 on 1 with the keeper, and only 1 went in. The opponent scores 2 headers off crosses (couldn't get past my defence any other way) where my player was there but seemingly not tall enough both times and I lost.

What is everyone's general tactic on one-on-one situations?

I initially used the power shot, then moved to precision shooting pretty much anywhere inside the box. But I've also learnt with precision shooting that it's best to use when at an angle (say 45 degrees) from the goal, particularly with the preferred foot towards the centre of the field.

I've been having success lately on one-on-one's by slowing up, dragging the keeper out and then feeding a through ball to my other striker running through who has an easy tap in into an empty goal.

Obviously it helps having 3 speedster forwards up front.

go straight at the keeper, when you enter the box start to veer off to one side (if you have a right footer at striker go to the right, if he's a left footer go to the left), and when the keeper is getting near you do a precision shot at the near post with fairly low power.

works sometimes, sometimes it doesn't. The one you said where you have a teammate run onto a through ball is pretty good, but I play with 1 striker so I don't always get that, if my left or right mid makes the break I will pass it to the striker for a tap in.

Yeah it's pretty much whatever is on at that moment.

Alternative options is to lob through ball for your oncoming support if you have bodies in the way for a normal through ball, or fake shot around the keeper when they're charging and slot in the open goal.

Sometimes I fk up by not shooting when I should and instead waiting for my support for a through ball then I get tackled from behind for taking too long... Sometimes I think it's just best to take the shot unless you know 100% the keeper is charging at you.

if you have a 2 on 1, then pass, if you are 1 on 1, always precision shot, veering off to left or right slightly beforehand is 90% of the time a goal.

I came within 3 points of my first online league title! had 2 games to do it in as well and lost them both

I just vsed the best team I've ever seen.. They had completely blue and black cards.. Messi ronaldo benzema ozil etc i have no idea how much it would have cost.

Was 3 3 full time then I won 6-4 in extra time so was a pretty epic match. They celebrated and watched replays of their goals to the max so it made the win even sweeter.

I play as Wolves so I get teams like Santos and Mexico and their goalies always seem to bat the ball back rather than take it in their hands. THis is good considering I play Doyle up front with Fletcher just behind him (or vice versa) and get a lot of goals from the second attempt. Fletchers also tall so the cross to a header in goal is pretty easy too.

When I play as Real Madrid or Brazil or whatever they always hang onto the ball. Doesn;t matter when you are Brazil though haha.

On Pro, this game feels ridiculous. I play as Real Madrid in one career mode and I can get around 6-12 shots a game consistently, score around a goal or 2. They get 1-3 shots a game and always score a goal. Their chances aren't even that good, it's just Casillas being terrible.

Had one of those wankers that get to a lead then hog it in the corner. Is there anything that can be done in that instance?

I get the shits and just send my goal keeper. At the very least they get tempted to play to score an open goal.

That's my beef with FIFA 12. Too many douche bags online. Players that have more crosses then shots, yet score from the shittest headers cause defenders don't man up.
