there's no doubt he'll play Rugby Union in France or something now, that has to be humiliating after all the hype "most paid prop ever", the Bulldogs pull the plug leaving him without a club next season

That media release was a self-inflicted uppercut if I ever saw one

I have to say, I'm not surprised. I think he was only going for the money anyway. Similar to T-Rex who admitted as much. Some players can change clubs and embrace it and others can't. You really need to have your heart in it as the level of commitment is huge.

It'll be very interesting to see how he goes for the rest of the year and where he signs to play for next season.

Anyone that matters?

I seem to recall the Broncos CEO doing the same thing with Inglis...

It's an opinion you idiot and Cullen screwed up as well but not in the same way, inglis' deal was done and just had to sign it and inglis snaked us, according to castle she confirmed a deal and even defended the clubs ability to afford him, all before the details had even been negotiated.

Fifita's ears burning
Andrew Fifita's poorly-timed comments that he should have gone to rugby instead of signing with Canterbury have infuriated the Bulldogs' management more than he will ever know.
Fifita has been feeling the heat from fans and some media critics since deciding to quit the Sharks for a rich deal at Belmore in 2015.
He quickly back-tracked from the rugby comments, even phoning Bulldogs chief executive Raelene Castle to apologise for his outburst.
Castle accepted the apology but not so one prominent board member - he saw red when he heard the comments and declared if he had his way, he would rip Fifita's massive contract up here and now.

I don't know about that, apart from the Waratahs (can't afford him even if they do want him) all the Super 15 teams in Australia would be interested in him and the ARU would definitely be willing to top up his pay as well.

I wouldn't rule him out of Super Rugby (or even the NRL) just yet, but the bloke does come across as though the money is all that matters so I wouldn't be surprised to see him playing Japanese or French rugby either.

Yeah, I had an inkling this would be the case. Raelene and Des would not have seen red at the rugby comments, but any board member who had been around since the SBW saga would have seen this as a massive danger. Not surprised at all they ripped up his contract. He might have gotten away with it at any other club

He made some silly comments and now he has his chance to go to union its a shame because NSW needed him he was one of our most damaging forwards

480,000 euros is currently 715,000 Aussie dollars not a bad wicket

Yes, but i can't see Fifita getting close to 480,000 euros. Roberts and Giteau are in the top 10 of union earners worldwide, apparently, well at basic wage level anyway.

The fact is, it seems that Fifita's comments have cost him about $A400k a year. That'll learn 'im.

He will pretty much have to go to union unless the Sharks give him a life line. How could you sign him after the comments he made? While I agree the Dogs messed this up as well, they were not even in the same ball park as Fifita. The question Castle should have been asked was about 3rd party agreements. It seems far more likely that is where the issue is.

I'm over the 3rd party thing. It needs fixing asap...

Dogs don't need another prop, the pack they have atm is doing well. We just need a game breaker winger/fullback/centre. Des should push the NRL to get Blake Ferguson back in the NRL.

Tigers better sign up Tedesco quick, because you know for damn sure what they will do with that free 850k

Yes, sign Tedesco. He is a starting NRL fullback in a full strength Tigers side. Nothing like that is available from Manly so don't waste the time looking at their players, just sign Tedesco. It's Tedesco! It's a name! Surely the dogs will be tempted? Sign him now, Des.
