It all comes back to the press looking for a story.

Packer bashing someone & going to gaol was a story.
Packer playing NRL was a story.
Fifita cohorting with a criminal is a story.

Do we really expect anything different.??

f**k the press, win the comp to give them another f**king story.

So what is known.
Fifita visits Loveridge in gaol
Fifita has known Loveridge since childhood
Fifita had FKL on wrist band 4 months ago
FKL apparently message of support for Loveridge
Police issue warning over consorting with criminals.
Telegraph goes off with usual code/club in crisis beat up

Did Fifita show poor judgement? Yes
Is this a criminal offence? No
Should Fifita face sanctions? They would have to determine that he had broken some sort of code of conduct. Highly doubtful.

The timing is weird given Fifita had visited Loveridge for some time and the letters on the wrist haven't appeared for 4 months.

IMO the club is handling it well. Don't dance to the news Ltd tune.

Agenda driven wowser hypocrisy 1.01. I'm pretty sure in that bible somewhere it actually encourages visits to prisoners. Possible context issue, but that's exactly the same with the Fifita visitation issue. He has known the person for many years previous. It's a free country, even if 'FKL' is a positive message to Loveridge, Fifita has every right to support a mate. Which is not to say that he supports random violence and maybe not the cleverest or most politically correct move, but I'm dead against the thought police conducting another trial by media.

Hopefully, the end result is eudaimoniac in nature.

The above post needs some balance. What about the family? They don't need reminders.

They didn't have any reminders until the Tele reminded them. No one knew or probably even noticed the wrist band until now. Of course he's a dumb merkin for wearing it but the Tele are the ones reminding the family here.
