A fitting end to a terrible week. With the fit squad the Broncos had, the premiership was theirs to lose. One has to ask the question - had the players on the all day bender got in some extra training, or even got to bed at a decent hour last weekend, would they have had the mettle to get over Melbourne?

Lack of commitment - personified by Sims and his inability to simply hold onto the ball, when it was all that was required to win the match.

Gotta say by far the best and most vocal crowd of the year well done Brisbane.
50 466 people this is why we have the WC final and we should have the GF

Why play a GF in front of a measley 50,000 when Sydney get 80,000 and Melbourne get 100,000 ?

because they need to reward the brisbane fans for their support the crowd attendances through the season and including the finals series in sydney over the last few years been pretty poor to say the least without the three QLD teams have the top attendances and should be reward for itIMO.

Are you serious ? Lockyer had an absoloute shocker ! Probably the worst game I've seen him play in the last 3 years.

Shocker? He was laying it onto Hodges all night. Put some great kicks in when we really needed it too. Yes a couple of dropped balls, but without him, we would not have been 2 up with 2 to go when some unknown assailant dropped the ball cold.

Lockyer was awful I thought. I haven't seen the replay but wasn't he also responsible for the Slater try? He seemed to be right underneath it but made little effort to contest it.

Positive 3, 2, 1:

3. Kemp
2. Eastwood
1. Thaiday

Negative 3, 2, 1:

3. Sims
2. Clinton
1. Lockyer

Absolutely gutted with the loss but couldn't of been more proud of the boys. They had the best team of the competition a minute away from elimination and absolutely tried their guts out for everyone of us fans.

I didn't think we deserved to win though. In attack we just didn't show the Storm enough respect at times and it's that lack of respect that ended up costing us the match.

We lead 12-0 and only managed 2 points in the 2nd half.

I know it's easy to pick out Sims drop etc like the media have, but we needed just a try to finish the Storm off and didn't get it.

Plus, all that dropped ball in the first half led to all that defense we had to do to hold the Storm out. That's why we were knackered at the end and couldn't stop them.

Why does this loss hurt ? Cause 2008 is the year one got away from us. We could have gone the whole way with this team, add to that it's was Bennett's last season here and it just makes it that much tougher to accept at the moment.

It's not just that it was the one that got away but that I think it's going to be a few years until we're in a position to seriously win a comp again. In this new era you have such a limited time at the top before get picked apart so you have to make it count when you have the team.

A lot depends on Gorrell and Marsh next year. We'll also need to get the most out of Te'o and Setu. If we can do that, and be free of injury come finals time, we'll probably have another solid crack at it.

Plus the addition of Falou won't hurt

Forward pack - Thaiday, Parker and Clinton are going to have to lead us in the forwards and Taylor is going to have to have a big year

Hope a few more youngsters are blooded next year
