Watched it this morning, very close and tense finish.
It must be getting on for about twelve years since Hull actually had a genuine halfback who could create something. All they've done in the meantime is use players out of position or sign players like Miller who IMO is out of his depth. They don't have a clue when it comes to a kicking game and just act in desperation most of the time on the last tackle. Neither team is going to threaten either end of the table and mediocrity beckons yet again.

Agreed.
Guys like miller, rankin etc from aus will produce the odd spectacular game. But the majority of the time it's less than average.

Holdsworth brought a good kicking game to the KC but not much else. Certainly not committed to the job he was brought in to do.

Wigan / Bradford 84-06

WTF?

Even worse when you see it was largely a second string Wigan team. Wigan played most of the match with 15 men (McIlorum and O'Loughlin rested after a short early stint). An 18 year old prop on debut, two 19 year olds, three 20 year olds and ultimately an average age of just over 23... even with a veteran signed from their own coaching staff as depth dragging up the average age.

Bradford had a bench full of kids too, but that's some performance.

Does anyone have the average crowds for SL so far. Was wondering how they are tracking against past years. I'd imagine London are dragging the average down a lot.

I think they're slightly down on last year overall. London are definitely the outliers but Wakefield have seen a big drop this year as well, partly because their stadium has had its capacity slashed after it was refused a safety certificate.

Not quite down - they are (well were, I'm yet to see the figures for over Easter) about 2% up - most are expected. Salford have seen a big rise, st.helens and (perhaps slightly surprising) hull Kr are the big winners so far. No prizes for the big losers thus far.

The last set of complete statistics I have (from an English rl forum) are below (though they're a few rounds ago now) :)

Are the Catalans going through the swings and roundabouts of professional sports or is the seeming big drop in numbers indicitive of a bigger problem there?

Their slow start would have had an effect on crowds? How are they performing now? As I dont get to watch them or the Superleague much (or there net based feeds?) Im extremely interested to read about the Dragons specifically but the Uk as a whole from our English friends..

They always have poor crowds at the start of the season and better crowds as the year goes on, regardless of opposition or form.

Going to get completely ahead of myself and predict we will win the double this season :)

Defence is excellent

Absolutely. Probably the best SL has seen so far. If the pack continues to hold itself together, that Leeds backline should be lethal.

Jeez, this place does when I don't post ;)

Anyway, game of the round (and possibly the season so far) tomorrow. I have my alarm set for 5am too and I don't think I've ever looked forward to a Cas/Leeds game as much and that's my favourite "derby".

The two best attacks in the league go head to head. Do Cas have enough in them to break down this Leeds D that's still only averaging 8.5 points a game?

Personally I think they'll have to score at least 4 tries to beat Leeds and defend better than they have all year, but traditionally they get up for this game anyway, and have "shocked" Leeds a fair few times over the years without a good team.

It's always a great atmosphere down there too with usually a 50/50 split in crowd numbers and 11k expected.

I think there'll be nothing in it until the last 15 or so when Leeds pull away with a couple of late tries.

Cas 14-30 Leeds
