He'd be handy for publicity but I don't know when he'll be playing. He isn't half the player he used to be.....

Buying Union Players would be a top idea... because eve if they fail to make a good impression in league circles.. Parra could always drop them to play with Ben Kusto at the Parramatta 2 Blues Rugby Team.

buying jonah would be very stupid seeing that he is 29 i think and he probably will never play again because he has kidney disease.

I'd say Tana would be a better option.....all though he is getting any younger either.

As Colonel Eel said earlier......a player like Doug Howlett would be magnificent but??....there's no way NRL clubs would have the amount of financial muscle...espically with the new tax scenario to lure to our competition and more so our club.

Rococoococ what ever his name is or the "rocket man" would be another player i have a main priority on aswell.....probably just as expensive but?? at 21 he's got a long time in professional sport left.

the club shoud save there money up and buy Jonah Lomu

Purchasing Lomu would be the most hideous move ever by a RL club!!

He's now 29....on a contract including sponserships in excess of a million dollars & has cronic injury problems inparticular his dud kidney....or should i say someone else's kidney

He wouldn't be the marketing tool he once was....Lomu is not the player he once was...and to be honest??...Union officals would be laughing there pant's off knowing an NRL club payed huge money for a bloke who has serious kidney problems!!

i don't see how you guys can be naming so many players

talent-wise, the wallabies look pretty ordinary compared to most nrl club sides. and when you consider the wallabies beat most other nations, surely hardly any of these players can be considered strong league prospects - if any at all

I agree with HM.

There is no stand out players, such as a Campo or Tim Horan in the Aussie team.

We want another Dick Thornett, who player Union and RL for Oz.

I think the best that Fitzy and Co would be looking for, would be a "bargain buy", as the article says, which would would give more fringe players than we already have.

I disagree......there are many standouts in the cup who with the right tuition & stronger emphasis on fitness could well be very promising RL players.

There is no stand out players, such as a Campo or Tim Horan in the Aussie team.

I think your asking for way to much if you think the players of this calibre are running around everywhere you go......these two players are in the top 10 best Aus Union players in history.....they don't come around everyday!!

A Dick Thornett would be nice.....as i said before players of this calibre aren't found everyday.....and even if we did purchase a quality Union player they will need to be exposed regulary to Parra's superiour training & fitness measures.

I reckon Brad Thorn would be big enough and ugly enough to add a bit of grunt up front. He would be a good buy.

I watched Brad Thorn's game tonight and he seemed to go alright and show some skills.

Though it was only the All Blacks v Canada....

Parra's last "offers" were supposedly to Nathan Blacklock and Amos Roberts, so if FItzy is going to scout for anyone at this tournament it will probably be for a winger/centre, as they mustn't be happy with their 2004 depth there?

And as long as the winger/centre can tackle, then their transition may go OK? The only reason behind even trying it though is that a rugby boy wouldn't cost anything, and if the experiment fails, it wasn't at the expense of any $$$ or any other player's wage.

(IMO Poms will win the tournament. Their pack is too fat, too old, too experienced. But none of them would make the Beefacke Thread :p )

Brad Thorn would be a magnificent purchase for any RL club throughout the world.....more so Parramatta!!

Regardless if you hated him in the past....think of it realistically how much of an asset he could be for us......he epitimises everything Brian was looking for in regards to forward talent for next season.

Dare i say.....if Thorn came to Parra.....Vella would be in First Division.

Chris Armit will be the next forward sensation next year in the NRL.....a remarkable talent with the physique, Skill, Speed & athletic characteristics to be future representitive player.

I've only watched about 10 minutes of the androtop Cup while waiting for the new series of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe to come on, and what i caught was USA v Fiji.

My thoughts - snap up those yankee backs for next to nothing. They can pass very well, run good lines and take a bit of pain. Would cost us next to nothing to get them and thus we have little to lose.

ROFL

Those guys would be happy to get a small contract anywhere, imagine their joy if they were signed for an NRL club?

Two words for you HJ - Manfred Moore.

and as I've said previously.. if they don't work out for the Eels.. send them to the 2 blues - Ben Kusto could do with some new boys to play with

what a disapointment that would be for them! WORLD CUP!!! ...to the two blues...
half a dozen internationals couldn't get them a win!

... i shouldn't say that, i have a mate that plays for them, he'll kill me.

GO UNI! i say!

Seriously - sign these Jap fellows up.

After watching the Japan V France match, I think the two teams which would most fit league are France and Japan.

If we want backs, how about thos Japanese wingers and fullback?

Or how about those Japanese forwards? They might not be the biggest, but damn - they give it their best and go at it all night long!

Seriously, although I doubt they would be willing to come to the Great Code, they would be GREAT signings.
