Good wingers are worth more to a side than centres these days. You can manage with an ordinary centre - but having an ordinary winger is suicide.

I think wingers are in a better position to contribute in attack than centres.

I would rather a gun centre than winger. But that's me. Centre is probably the hardest position to defend in.

Also true. You can carry a poor defender on the wing, but a poor defensive centre is suicide.

That's possibly a slight exaggeration.

An in-demand player like Folau (sorry, Falou) would reject a deal like that and sign with another club that offered more money and security.
