Folau

So your argument is based on IF you were gay you wouldnt be offended, then ypu proceed to ridicule any gays that might be offended.

If you speak for others for long enough I suppose you can kid yourself into anything.

And Folau is no longer a proven quality player at NRL level. I watched the highlight package of his season in the ESL and he was running through some paper thin defence. He won't get away with that in the NRL. Plus the video failed to show anything about his defensve game, which raises some questions.
I haven’t ridiculed gays at all. And how do you know I’m not gay?

I’m personally a bit disappointed this fell through because I want quality players at my club.

But. Gotta say I don’t really get the outrage. If I was gay and someone said because you’re gay you’re going to an imaginary hell. Big whoop. This would hold as much weight as saying if you’re gay you’ll be devoured by the Jabberwock.

I’m not gay either mate...I can’t use the old “if I was gay” argument...nor can you.

so don’t assume what someone will think or feel without truly knowing what they have been through.

This kind of whataboutery is utter bullshit.

Show me any Muslim professional sportsperson that has publicly made similar comments to Folau and I’ll join you in condemning them.

https://www.smh.com.au/entertainmen...are-confusing-to-society-20180128-h0pkel.html

But his controversial comments aren't limited to sport. He believes in traditional roles for men and women, and has criticised the ABC for "promoting" homosexuality to young people.

"My biggest fear is Allah and if Allah prohibits it, then it's wrong," says Mundine, who converted to Islam in 1999.

"I was always taught that two genders together is natural; it's what's meant to be. Male and male, or female and female, is just confusing to society."

He is quick to add that one of his best friends is a gay man, and he no problem with gay individuals.

"That's their prerogative, all I can do is warn them," he says. "I always tell my gay friend, 'You've got to find a lady ... god will judge you, not me."

All good. But my point is there’s no such thing as ‘hell’.

If Izzy said “all people 173cm tall and 82kg will go to hell” then I’d go yeah ok whatever.

There's an awful lot of people who don't understand the argument they're in...

they're basing their argument on one of or all of the following factors.

1. he hasn’t said anything illegal which wasn’t in the bible

2. The NRL has let other players who have actually done a crime come back and play

3. what’s happening to freedom of speech? If someone quotes something from the bible they should be allowed to say it..in fact...people should be allowed to say anything they want...this is not a communist country

4. we really need quality players to come play for us

5. I agree with him

It’s a pretty farked up world we live in

There is less stigma attached now to being gay than at any time ever. Nobody bats an eyelid anymore seeing two guys arm in arm or two chicks pashing on the dance floor. (My favourite)

Australia voted yes and so it should have.
Getting so wound up about one person’s views is ridiculous.

Me too! (Maybe 92kg)

In all seriousness...my view is this...anyone who spreads hate to the masses like this bloke does...saying people are not equal because of the way they are born and stand by these beliefs should not be rewarded with a footy contract.

Did you miss the point that you were responding to?

The previous poster said that a Muslim wouldn’t be criticised by the media for similar comments.

But Mundine was criticised by many media outlets for those comments. (And rightly so in my opinion).

On the topic of our favourite mercenary, has he ever explained how posing for this magazine cover fits in with his views?

Or how he spoke about helping to break down homophobia through rugby?

As a free speech advocate, I believe it’s my god-given right to spew any hateful belief that I have on a public forum.

And anyone who disagrees with me is a bigot.

Am I doing this right?
Pretty much..

I think the Sharks are f**ked and their supporters are half-wits..

I think that makes me bigoted against the Sharks..

But I’m allowed to voice my opinion...

I’ll probably never get a job in the Sharts administration after this post..

But I’m okay with that..

That’s discrimination. You’re the real victim here.

Looks like he isn’t coming now anyway. Which is a good thing. I just watched his 2020 highlights video. Williame is better.
