So do we have to start referring to Greenberg as "Dear Leader"? Hang his portrait in the halls of every NRL club's offices? Add the hammer and sickle to our jerseys? Fair dinkum this sport.

I'm obviously extremely naive ...

Are clubs spending more than 7 million on a wrestling coach, a couple physios and someone to outline that fast food isn't the best available food source????

Mate from what I have heard, some of the clubs have well over 20 f*cking people on their coaching staff.

The Bulldogs, Bronco's, Penrith etc would dust a bloody fortune on off field expenses.

So nearly more staff than the first grade squad.

Still, 7 million shared among 20 staff is a huge wage when you average it out. I know the staff are not the only expense but there are a lot of people getting a lot of money.

The NRL is going too easy here. Cut it in half again and it's still generous.

That would not include other consultants and shit they have, rehab facilities, hookers, coke etc.

I'd imagine the Storm would have 2 coaches for each illegal move they have inteoduced so theres 20 staff right there lol

How about we flick wrestling coaches for a start. They are cruelling the game.

Funny thing is the Dogs spend a fortune on their football dept, and look at their 2017 efforts.

If the cattle are duds ,the famer ain't going to get much milk out of them.

Who is the best wrestling coach in the game and what $$ is he on?
I am sure he is a nice guy, thats why it is so hard to cut him. But sorry, your cut.
They have added nothing but utter dog shit to the game.

Sound sensible to me, all clubs should be brought down to the same level of mediocrity. Let the best CEO's, injury management people, coaching staff, trainers and talent scouts go to other codes if they think they're worth more money . . . RL's only a dumbarse working man's game after all

Aside from that, good luck to the dumbarse NRL keeping count of brown paper bag sales

At a bare minimum

  • There's the head coach
  • The assistance coaches x 6 (attack, defence, halves, forwards and penalty milking + assistant (see below)
  • The conditioning coaches x 5 (cardio, HIIT, weights, hitting people and air conditioning - due to a recent rule change the pretending you're hurt when you're not coach lost his jerb but now he's assisting the penalty milking coach)
  • Nutrition coaches x 5 (stuff you eat coach, supplements you won't lose your jerb over coach, supplements you will lose your jerb over if anyone finds out coach, stuff you drink coach and the you can't drink as much as Boony, so don't try coach) The Dragons have extra assistance for Dugan and Fergo as the message isn't getting through. Unfortunately, they're Queenslanders, so for Origin... well
  • The get us to games on time coach (and it's driver)
  • Physios x well loads (back specialist, shoulder specialist, knee specialist, I'm digging my elbow in your back and causing you untold pain specialist etc aka masseuse - they used to get this done up the Cross with happy endings included, but now it's all up market apartments)

I'm sure I'm just scratching the surface here on what clubs are spending their money on.
This is professional sport here, not Breakfast at Tiffanys
(and yes, I realise that last comment means you've probably got that annoying f**king song stuck in your head)

Some people are very upset that some clubs in the NRL actually operate a professional sporting environment.

Get rid of wrestling coaches.
Get rid of defensive coaches too, defense only gets in the way of tries. Adds nothing to the game.
As for attacking coaches, pff. Head coach should be able to do it all otherwise what's he really worth.
Including playing in the game too, bring back Captain Coaches. Head coaches have only dragged Rugby League down.
And the players should get real jobs too.
