There are cheaper options who will do the same job. My two cents....
I agree.

Fair enough.
But how much would Clinton really be worth these days?
I don't think he could get anywhere near $275,000 at the moment.
But if that means we can get two or three good players instead of just one, go for it.
I just find it curious how we all bitch and moan about the 'B-grade' team we have and we think we can be picky and choosey when it comes to potential new recruits.
Also, a cheaper option (if all things go as planned) would only be a cheaper option for a year or two. If the cheaper player improves as expected and plays well, then they will undoubtedly get an upgrade, and would therefore be earning a similar amount down the line to a more expensive player. Could cause cap problems down the track.
At this point in time I think the club need to be picky and choosy in terms of who they sign and for how long, particularly given the fact we have so many players off contract at the end of 2010. We definitely need new players at the club next year without the slightest doubt.
The squad as it stands needs to have broom dragged through it without a doubt but they also have to consider the ramifications of those signings and what impact they may have beyond that time. We also have to ensure that the players that are signed will be a benefit to the team not only on the park.
We should be picky.
There is no point whatsoever signing players just for the sake of it.
If they are not going to improve us and give us value, why bother?
Signing an expensive player now who may not necessarily improve the squad to could well cause the same problems. Given Clinton is now 29 and this could well be his last contract he'll be interested in the best deal he can get. Cheaper options improving over time and earning a new contract may well be a cap issue later down the track in some instances but those problems can easier maintained than a more expensive option that no one wants.
how many years did michael hodgson sign with the dogs? if you could get him back to parra itd be worth it for a year or 2
If the Eels signed you up for a dollar a season it'd be worth seeing you dislocate another elbow.
Hell, I'd even pay to see that!!
Suity
how much will you pay me to dislocate my elbow....cuz mate i will do it if the price is right
I'd do it for nothing tbh.

But to quote Stagger - who wouldn't improve our squad?
I see what you're saying, but we're in a position where most players still available would help.
