Pretty sure the Maloney thing was just buzz saying "imagine maloney going to Roosters" or something to that effect on 360. It's not a thing.

Maybe but the article is saying they are asking for some kind of salary cap dispensation so they must have someone in mind.

I don't care if they sign Maloney in terms of the footballing aspect. At his age he would struggle so badly defensively it would be a handicap for them in a tight game. But if their cap is full then they just have to deal with the injuires as best they can.

Yeah if they get it that's pushing it. Play your rookies like the rest of us.

They got that with Cordner. Don't think they used it yet

Compensation for injured players is fraught with danger and open to rorting.

Absolutely shouldn't happen.

Look at Greg Inglis. Souths got 1 million in salary cap relief now he is playing in the super league.

It's farcical. I've no doubt burgess may make a comeback. Michael Morgan maybe goes to super league after 12 months off.

It's just another way for clubs to rort it and the nrl seems content on letting big clubs like the chooks continually get little leg ups.

Here is another article for a replacement of Keary.

https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nr...n/news-story/0c802f75fbe8650235c28db3c0981905

They name every ex-NRL half now playing in the UK.
Only problem is they are all contracted until the end of the year and that the Roosters have no salary cap space left.
But if anyone can swing this it would be the Roosters.
Perhaps they can jump on the Doggies wagon - Burton to the Rorters NOW (with special cap dispensation thrown in!).

You’d have to think the career of Luke Keary is at the crossroads, coming back from a knee reconstruction at aged 30 next season is going to be a huge challenge.

I know this has nothing to do with former panthers, just a bit surprised they didnt make more of a play for Burton even allowing for the fact they have there own young gun in Walker.

Loan em Burto for the year just to piss of the dogs.
f**k that, they can unretire freddy fittler.. they deserve to be in the bottom four, with their consistent bending of the cap, seriously that club should be punted to Adelaide permanently, then i'll accept any leg up they get via salary cap dispensation..
They have sam walker, and joey manu in the halves, theyll be fine, its the suaali kid that they bring in "under aged btw" that annoys me.... another bent rule to serve the FüCĶWitž of yachting

What bending of the cap? They've lost 3 or 4 rep level players which only leave them with half a team of rep players now! They are the true battlers of the nrl.

Roosters will go for Burton once he's either a premiership winner and/or Origin player.
