People not aware that there are clubs in France and Wales? Any chance of a name change to reflect this please?

Yes European or engage for the sponsor title but 'English' is a misnomer IMO. England is only part of the UK, not all of it.

Makes sense as we now have a French and welsh SL side and in the lower divisions we have Toulouse and South Wales with another Welsh club on its way.

Just Super League - that being the name of the comp.. The aussies need to grow out of their shell. Rugby Union isn't rugby. Super League is not the break away australian league for more than 10 years..

That is to say if this was suppose to be THE rugby league forum in the world.. If it's going to be australian forum on RL, then by all means.. call it "Pom RL" - it doesn't matter.

I agree, but the comp goes by 2 names in Europe.

Engage SL or European SL, it's the idiots in the Aussie news papers or TV shows that mention English SL non stop.

BTW, the Big comp in America is called super league, there are a few other comps in union named the same.

It was previously 'European Rugby League' and people started posting threads about European developments that should have been in the international section. Nobody anywhere refers to the comp as 'European Super League' so that wouldn't be a great title, I want to try and avoid references to Europe if possible so people don't get mixed up.

This forum is supposed to be about the British league system (ie Super League, the Championships and everything below that). Obviously there is some overlap with the international section with regards to Welsh and Scottish stuff, but threads about international developments and expansion into those places that aren't related to the English leagues should probably be on the international board. Threads about Catalans and TO already go on the French board, I can't remember the last time they were discussed on here. This forum should perform the same duty as the NRL board in that it's discussion of the comp and of the game in general related to the UK, whereas threads like this are more suited to the international board, if that makes sense. The current name isn't ideal, but at least it doesn't lead to any confusion and I can't think of a better name that would accurately refelect what the forum is supposed to be about. If anyone has any suggestions then go ahead.

It's not called the English Super League, it's actually called the engage Super League, if we were changing the forum name for accuracy then that would have to be what it was changed to since that's the competition's name. But then a lot of people probably wouldn't know what it was. I've never heard of 'European Super League' outside of these forums, it's just Super League in the UK. I know the 'European' tag was banded about when the comp was created, but it was never known as that and I think the 'European' tag was dropped in about 1998 or something.

I don't know if 'European' is some sort of strange Australian thing left over from the Super League war, but the comp isn't called that and shouldn't be referred to as that.

I've always called it the European SL and with three european countries involved it is a fitting name.

It can be any name, as long as there's majority agreement.
