Foundation Cup v Charity Shield

Well 16,000+ turned up tonight to see the goosters play the tigpies. Must say that that is an impressive crowd for a trial. It has been talked up as something that will rival the Charity Shield one day so seems like it got off on the right foot

They also let everyone run on the field after the game. If they are going to allow this for a trial, why the f**k don't the NRL let this happen all the time? The kids love it and gives the folks a reason to get to more games

As in After toplayers are gone in the sheds or while they are still there?
I would think it would be unsafe.

Last time i saw it was when Bulldogs played their last game of the season after they had the points cut.

It is great for the kids - but it would most likely be a public liability related policy for not allowing it.

The good ol' days of running onto the field after the game are gone, its just an unfortunate reality of modern sport, too many things can go wrong and its too hard to police if need be.

It has about as much significance as the Charity Shield.

Oh right, so are they also giving the money made from the game to 3 hospitals, including the Sydney Children's Hospital?

Charity Shield kills the Foundation Cup, No procedes from the Foundation Cup go to charities which is quite unfortunate and thats the best thng about the charity shield

Cos the Bulldogs fans might stab an opposition player?

Roosters fans would be unhappy the win came at the cost of Flannery. The newspapers are talking about him being on the sidelines for 4 months.

The point is, other teams are cashing in on the idea of making a big deal of a trial match by making it a tradition, but ignoring the charitable aspect that has made the charity shield a stand out from the other trials.

It's great that the money goes to charity, brilliant in fact. But you don't truly believe that's why the charity shield has stood for so long do you?
